Rejoining the Ranks of Toned Jeff Collectors

Back in the 70s I joined PAK early on and my first collecting efforts were FS Jeffersons. I can still remember those dealer comments from back then, "You're looking at the steps on those coins, for what?" I'd spend hours on the bourse floor scouring for high-end FS coins, and feeling good about plopping down $5 for a serious find. I moved on and for over twenty years had several different collecting interests, but never much paid attention to Jeffs during that time. Got the idea that I should spend lots of money on the sexier stuff that's out there and become a "serious" collector.
Then, I was at a show last year and ran across a dealer who had a Whitman album with a full set of Jeffs. Must've been sitting in that album for years, every one of them had nice rainbow toning on them. He was interested in selling them as part of a large consignment collection. After looking at the set for a while, the old memories came flowing back. I offered him 2x ask for just the Jeff album, and for him I couldn't write the check fast enough. Took them home and spent hours adoring them.
About that time I submitted most of my original Jeff collection for grading. Although I didn't fare as well as expected, I ended up with a few nice grades, including a 1954-S in PCGS 65FBL. So now I'm having fun and back at my roots putting together a toned set of Jeffs.
Here's a few of the coins out of the toned set.

Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
My Jefferson Nickel Collection
I've been into toned Jeffs for a couple of months now and its getting harder and harder to find them @ a reasonable price.
