Question about this Frankie

JRoccoJRocco Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭✭
I think this older Frankie holder will go CAM, but the coin has a few milk spots- can these be cleaned up or are they permanent? The scratches are on the plastic. Any opinions appreciated.

Milk spots won't come off, but that looks like an easy CAM/DCAM

ive heard from some forum members that a short acetone bath will cure the milk spots, and it CERTAINLY looks CAM to me.

edit: looks like someone got here before me, and i was wrong =P

It's a slam dunk CAM or DCAM, but it won't grade any higher than PR-66 because of the spots and what looks to be a few hairlines from handling.

From what I've read here, Milk spot's are near impossible to remove. NCS can minimize in some cases.

    pretty bold statement there brother...

This coin could have some hairline issues that just may forever doom it to a pr66 holder or worse....

I would need to see this one in person, and look for those nasty ol hairlines...

I have a question- Could this coin go 67 if it were hairline free with those spots?

  • I have seen PR67's with worse milk spots. If it's free of hairlines, it could go 67. Nice find!

Keep in mind that if the coin is resubmitted and comes back PR66CAM, the increase in value is likely NOT equal to the grading fee. Even at PR67CAM, the added value wouldn't be significantly greater than the grading (and postage) fees either.

I also agree with you Mark (and Mo also) , it would have to go 67 CAM to be worth the time and effort.
