Will you look at this 1954 D lincoln I got in change today..the D looks too close to the 9 to me..bu

Took the kids for fast food today and got this wheat cent in change...I really don't know enough about coins to know any different but when I compare this to say a 1955, the D seems really close to the 9 and the 1 seems really short. Any input is always appreciated image

Thank you

Mint marks can wonder all over the place on these Lincolns. The mint marks were dropped in by hand and can be high, low, or to the left or the right.

The MM's were punched by hand so they can be all over the place Bridget, yours looks normal- close to this RPM I have in this pic.

  • JRocco...and anyone else image When I go the bank I always try to ask for a roll of quarters when I remember. Not finding too awful much but my question is this...should I be asking for other denominations as well? Maybe a roll of pennies and nickels...I really enjoy searching through rolls and finding neat coins image

I have found thru the years Bridget that nickels tend to yield the oldest circ coins. You can still find many 50's Jeffs in change.

Yep! Except for the World War II years (1942 - 5) there was no silver in the nickel. Therefore the older coins that have survived beyond their normal 20 to 25 year life span can still be found in circulation.
