I have a box and a coin in a slab, but they did not come together.
The wood in box can do some things to the coin so it's not the ideal storeage device. Still it is neat.
BTW these boxes are among the more common of the orginal holders for the old commems, but they are still neat.
It's good see that your box is real. There are counterfeits out there.
If the dates are not recessed into the wood, The box is no good.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
These boxes were discussed in past threads. It was claimed that these boxes were reproduced and there are fake boxes out in the market place so be careful!
