Incredible Toned Franklin in Goldberg Sale!!!!!

Hi,

I was looking through the online catalog of the Goldberg sale and found this incredible toned 1958-D PCGS MS66FBL Franklin Half.

Any guesses on how much this baby will go for???? It is a common date that trades for $150-$300 usually.

You have to see the coin in person. If the coin's look is as good as the picture (i.e., not too dark), then expect to pay 4-digit $$$$ to get it.

If it looks like that in hand, I bet Michael is right on. But the image looks played around with to me...I dunno. Just looks like the color settings got tweaked a bit. I am sure it is still a monster, but I think the pic is enhanced a bit to emphasize the colors. JMHO.

As that is my coin, I have to tell you that the color picture is

an exact representation of the toning on the coin. I have never seen

another Franklin Half that was its equal. In my opinion, it is the finest

toned Franklin known. If that color and grade was a Morgan Dollar it

would probably sell in excess of 15,000 dollars.

    Bear,

Glad to hear that the coin looks as nice in person. It has been my experience that Goldberg's does a pretty fair job accurately portraying a coins true color better than alot of other auctions houses.

Good luck on the 58-D and I will be putting in a healthy bid to keep everyone honest.

Its interesting, that I have received three calls

from various individuals about this particular coin.

No one really knows just how high this coin will sell for.

While the market place will set the value, it has a strong

reserve on it. I would tell you what it is, but then I would have

to kill you. image I can tell you this though, unless you are in the

6-7 thousand dollar range, you are not even in the game.

Bear, did that coin come from a source in the Midwest? It has some characteristics in common with a group of coins that surfaced in 2003 that produced some incredible colors like this one:image

The Goldberg Auction is on a site for home viewing :

Ira and Larry Goldberg Coin Auctions . the Auction is around

    the middle of May /2005.

Without the toning, the coin would bring about 350 dollars.

One could buy the coin and dip it.image

I will pay $375 sight unseen for any untoned/white PCGS MS66FBL 1958-D Franklins. More if I like the coin. Bring them on!!!

I wouldn't pay that much for a coin that looks like it might make my hair fall out. image
That's some incredible color on an often drab date.

I don't care for toned cones myself but does the toning add a lot of value to all coins or only certain ones?
