Anybody else just about had it with the US Mint?

Web site "My Account" doesn't work (even though they posted Friday that it was finally restored) - order for Bison nickel roll sets 8 weeks overdue - customer service service is a joke (absolutely no help whatsoever). What's next? image

  • I haven't had any issues getting logged in over the past couple weeks. Bison nickles also arrived pretty quick for me?? Seems odd that
some can get in others are locked out? Also recieving email confirmations on orders and shippments, never got those before?

image Doesn't work for me either. Still waiting on 10 rolls of Bison Nickels.
  • Feel your frustration 7summits! Saw the announcement that the US Mint site was now fully functional. They also state that you can call customer service and ask for technical support to help correct any problems you are experiencing in getting on their site. So I call and ask to be transfered for further assistance. The representative told me that there is no help available and that sometimes things are put up on their site that aren't true. Couldn't believe that she said that but I had to laugh.image

Did contact my internet provider and talked to a technician. He walked me through the steps needed to delete "old cookies", etc. but nothing helped. Still can't get to the "Buy Online" page!

    Signed,

    Totally Frustrated

P.S. For those that haven't seen the announcement on the US Mint's website:

<< <i>The United States Mint online catalog is fully operational and all user functions, such as membership login and obtaining order status, have been restored. Unfortunately, some customers are still experiencing difficulty when accessing the online store. We have found that when site difficulties occur, they can usually be resolved by the user. The most common site difficulty is a blank page or cookie error. The United States Mint has posted step-by-step instructions to delete the "old cookies" on its website under Help/FAQs. Once the cookies have been deleted and the customer re-enters www.usmint.gov (remember to also re-bookmark) the blank page error will be resolved and ordering functions will be restored.

For additional help, click here : or call 1-(800)-USA-MINT (872-6468). Please inform your customer service representative that you are experiencing site difficulties and need additional assistance.

The United States Mint would like to apologize to all of our valued customers for any inconvenience experienced during the website upgrading process. >>

I can't get into their catalog at all. I can get to everything else on their site just not the catalog. Their site said it was a cookie problem. I deleted all cookies and tried again. Still no luck. It's beginning to pi$$ me off.
    Have a good day, Gary
  • I'm computer illiterate and have no problem getting on and have never had a single problem with the mint!
  • The representative told me that there is no help available and that sometimes things are put up on their site that aren't true.

8 units backordered. Expected to ship on 04/15/2005.

Well its 04/24/05 Still not shipped.image

There's a Buy Online Assistance tab on the right side of the main page. The one on the left doesn't work for me either. Anyway after opening I clicked where it said, (for additional help, click here). This took me to the online catalog and I was able to login to my account. image

I have had no problems with web access, telephone contacts, or ordering. I have received advance and shipment notice of subscriptions and separate orders. I have also returned a coin (scratched proof) and had immediate replacement with no additional inquiries. In my personal experience, the US Mint has performed flawlessly. Cheers, RickO
  • No problem getting to the buy online page....a little lag but not too terrible and I'm on cable modem connection and no problem logging into my account. I do feel your guys' pain though because I think I am just lucky today because last week I had a lot of problems trying to get anywhere so I just gave up!!

    Wayne,
I just tried the steps that you said worked for you and same old error message: "As part of our ongoing effort to provide high-quality customer service, the United States Mint is enhancing our web site to provide additional functionalities on customer registration/login. If you currently cannot access your account please DO NOT register a second time. If you would like to place an order, please place an order online without logging in or call our Customer Service at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468). We apologize for the inconvenience."
It really is frustrating to not be able to order online using "My Account"

image I got in. Deleted cookies and mint in "My Favorites" then rebooted computer. I also disabled my Firewall and Virus Protection and I was able to get in. Said my Bison Nickels are awaiting processing? I ordered them March 11th?

I've deleted all cookies and still can't get in. Yes, I'm getting tired of it. Hope they get this fixed soon.
  • Same boat here. 4/24 and the nickels that were supposed to ship on 4/15 still haven't. Oh well I guess, at least my credit card hasn't been charged yet image
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."
  • Yes, I HATE their services. Ever since the small quarter bag craze. A guy can only take it in the rear so many times before he says enough is enough!!!! They suck and I won't go back!

image Got an email stating my 5 rolls of P and 5 rolls of D Mint Bison Nickels have shipped.
  • Everyone has. Problem is, It is the only game in town.

    Remember, it is government run.

Oh Oh, now I will be monitored by the Feds.
  • I'm having the same problem. I called and was told "The technicians are still working on it". OMG it's been over a month. This kind of thing reminds us how the government machine is slow and unresponsive to it's citizens. I would love to see the ones working on their website, must be at the top of their field to take this long. That reminds me, why is it that when you buy rolls from the mint, the rolls look different than when you see them at the coin dealers?

The mint website is fairly messed up.

I wanted to order some of the Chief Justice Marshall commems the other day.

Accessed the website pretty quick, added them to my cart without issue, upon checkout was given a non-descript error

for not one but two different credit cards. In disgust I closed the session and decided to just forget about it.

    Money lost for the Mint.

After a couple false starts, I was able to successfully order Marshall dollars and proof sets. I got a confirmation notice this morning that my order had shipped; so far, so good.

I wonder if the website problems are going to create some rarities for 2005...
  • Strangely, I have never, in over 4 years of ordering on-line, had any problem whatsoever with the website...nver got any website "reconstruction" messages, never any error messages, and all of my orders have been shipped promptly, except when items were back-ordered, which I would be update on in a timely fashion. I have received all my rolls & bags of "bison" nickels, and have already sold a few on eBay.
I have a comcast high speed cable connection (which I have my own issues with - it's great when it works..) and access to the mint's website is consistently fast and efficient.image

  • I can't speak to their service, but I've had it with their $hitty designs. They haven't produced a beautiful coin since 1947. Everything since then has been a total dog squeeze!

Got a $25 bag O nickels this week and an email conf today that says my 1000 coin bag has shipped out. I have been ordering Gold and silver right along and never had any problems.

"The silver is mine and the gold is mine,' declares the LORD GOD Almighty."
  • I have been pretty lucky with the mint. Never a problem, with prompt shipping. The only errors I have encountered are my own. Forgot my password on the site and my email for that account was turned off. That is the biggest thing for me, forgotten passwords, oh and deleting emails before my Bisons were shipped. I think I have ordered 12 sets in two seperate orders. One in early Feb. and the other in early March. I have yet to receive any of the sets. I am a patient man and will continue to wait.

How was their website operating in 1947?

Kinda wierd hearing the complaints about the US Mint here. I have not experienced any problem and I have been ordering the standard sets for a couple of years now. Got my nickels right away but I admit I had to work at it for a couple of hours or so to get them ordered. ASE proof coins shipped just right and all seems to be well.
  • I am amazed that no one with any type of clout isnt on their Reps in congress. I would think that the higher Gods of the coin world both collectors and dealers would be all over the government for its slip shod work on coins designed by 3rd graders and computer dorks that cant find their bu#t with both hands and a flashlight. Boy this nation is in trouble. Come on down ossuma we are easy pickings... Government workers...shish!!

    The Four Cats!

Four men were bragging about how smart their cats were.
The first man was an Engineer, the second man was an Accountant, the third man was a Chemist,,,,,,and the fourth man was a Government Employee.

To show off, the Engineer called his cat, "T-square, do your stuff."
T-square pranced over to the desk, took out some paper and pen and promptly drew a circle, a square, and a triangle. Everyone agreed that was pretty smart.

But the Accountant said his cat could do better.
He called his cat and said, "Spreadsheet, do your stuff." Spreadsheet went out to the kitchen and returned with a dozen cookies. He divided them into
4 equal piles of 3 cookies.............Everyone agreed that was good.

But the Chemist said his cat could do better. He called his cat and said,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,"Measure, do your stuff." Measure got up, walked to the fridge, took out a quart of milk,, got a 10 ounce glass from the cupboard and poured exactly 8 ounces without spilling a drop into the glass.

Everyone agreed that was pretty good.
Then the three men turned to the Government Employee and said, "What can your cat do?"
The Government Employee called his cat and said,,,,, "CoffeeBreak,,,,do your stuff."
CoffeeBreak jumped to his feet,,,,,,,,,,, ate the cookies,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, drank the milk,,,,,,,,, sh*t on the paper,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, screwed the other three cats,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, claimed he injured his back while doing so,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, filed a grievance report for unsafe working conditions,,, put in for Workers Compensation...............
and went home from the mint for the rest of the day on sick leave....
  • Didn't have any problem with an order last month.
