Do any of you fantasy players have any last minute advice before my draft this Sunday. Any good prospects that may not have been talked about in a lot of the magazines and papers?
Thanks,
Bob

I always look to draft players who can do it all i.e Arod, Beltran . ( don't forget stolen bases ) If your last in any catagory chances are you won't win that league
If you don't grab the first couple catchers and all of a sudden theirs a run on catchers don't feel like you need to draft one just because the list is getting short. Same goes with some of the other positions. Every year theres guys you can pick up via the free agents. Theres a good chance your missing out on a more solid player.
good luck !
Angels third baseman Dallas Mc Pherson is the reason they let Troy Glaus move on. Hit over 40 home runs in the minors last year. Pat Burrell could be a sleeper as the potential is there and may be a good pick-up in the later rounds. I agree on Austin Kearns and Horatio Ramirez. Kearns has 30 + home run potential if healthy and Ramirez has been very tough for NL hitters when he is healthy.
Andruw Jones may be finally set for that breakout season. He has changed his batting stance and led spring training in homeruns. Colorado rookie pitcher Jeff Francis has great stuff and has been named to the starting rotation with the Colorado Rockies. May be a good idea to use him pitching on the road to begin with. Look to pick-up at least one Cardinal starter as they have an awesome offense which will help a so-so pitcher pick-up more wins than he otherwise would with another team.
I have had the good fortune of predicting the BIG bust out years starting(and having them on my main teams) with Schilling and Pedro in '97, Matt Morris '01, Halladay '02(also Lowe that year), Prior '03, Santana '04(also had Clemens whom many missed the boat on thinking he was done). The key was not drafting any of those guys too early as you shouldn't pass up the proven studs (hitters and pitchers) early on. Those guys were all had mostly in rounds 6-10. Exceptions were Prior in RD 3, and Halladay in RD 16.
SO I GEUSS MY ADVICE WOULD BE...IF YOU HAVE GUYS YOU LIKE, LIKE I AM REFERRING TO ABOVE, THEN DO NOT DRAFT THEM TOO EARLY AS YOU WILL NOT WIN THE LEAGUE EVEN IF THEY DO BUST OUT. YOU WILL ONLY WN THE LEAGUE IF YOU GET SOME PROVEN STUD PLAYERS WHO WILL ANCHOR YOUR TEAM AND THEN THESE GUYS WHO BUST OUT TO PUT YOU INTO FIRST! You have to know where the line is drawn between the proven players, and when you should take these guys(so you don't miss them), and that is the tricky part. That is where your rankings and clustering comes into play.
This year I believe one or two will step into the elite stud class. The trick is finding those guys as they will basically win you most of the pitching categories(assuming you didn't screw up on your other SP). My stuff is all documented. Come September I will let you know who I pegged, right or wrong.
Thanks,
Bob
By the way, I think I did pretty well this past auction. We have 13 teams and use bot the NL and Al. My team is as follows:
C- Miguel Olivo
C - Toby Hall
1B - Shea Hillenbrand
1B - David Ortiz
2B - Orlando Hudson
MI - Tadahito Ihuchi
SS - Angel Berroa
3B - Alex Rodriguez
3B - Brandon Inge
DH - Kevin Mench
OF - Justin Morneau
OF - Andrew Jones
OF - Corey Patterson
OF - Mike Sweeny
OF - Garrett Anderson
SP - Bartolo Colon
SP - Jeremy Bonderman
SP - Javier Vazquez
SP - Rich Harden
RP - Keth Foulke
RP - Huston Street
RP - Mike Koplove
All of these players stats count. My Bench players are:
Chris Burke
Jose Valentin
Calvin Pickering
Mark Ellis
Rich Aurilla
Ryan Church
Jason Lane
Luke Hudson
Ryan Drese
Luis Ayala
I think I may be a little weak in stolen bases and of coarse saves (unless Dotel loses his job) but I am happy with my team.

Bob
