My conversation with Bob Marino of Heritage

BarryBarry Posts: 10,100 ✭✭✭
Got a call from Bob Marino of Heritage looking for auction consignment coins. I told him although I don't have anything at the moment, I probably wouldn't consign to Heritage because their pictures are of such poor quality. He seemed surprised by my comment, and I suggested he search this forum for "Heritage" and "pictures" for many comments about their poor pictures. He thanked me for the honest opinion and said he would pass this along. Hopefully, it will make a difference.

  • Certainly that's not the first time he has ever heard about the poor quality of their pictures. But if he hears it enough.......

The heritage images are on the poor side.

I just filled out their annual survey and mentioned that their photography was the WORST feature of their site.

There are more complaints here dealing with their photography (term used very loosely!).
Everything starts and everything stops at precisely the right time for precisely the right reason.
  • Twice in the last couple of months I have shown him graphic proof of Heritage's inability
to portray a coin in its best light. Eric and Jeremy did my digi work before I sold my slab
set of Barber dimes. When I saw the coins for sale at Heritage I sent Bob his auction
listing and pinned either Eric or Jeremy's digi right next to it and asked him which picture
would draw more bids. No answer. Course I've only spent $15,000 there the last couple of
    years.

Very interesting - When I auctioned my Proof IHC Registry set 2 years ago, I told them the same thing ( a bit more forcefully) I "patiently" explained in my usual calm way, that making my PR66RD coins look like PR64RB coins would NOT get me the best prices for my coins - After several more "calm" discussions, they actually pulled the scanned images and broght somebody in to use a digital camera. - I was thereafter able to wean myself from the Valium. - Amazing what talking in a "Calm" manner can acheive! image
