Want To Work For PCGS????

Hello fellow coin enthusiasts,

PCGS needs some help. We are looking for a full time coin photographer. We're looking for someone who loves coins, knows a little bit (or more) about coin photography, and has an outstanding work ethic. You must live in or move to Southern California.

If you might be interested, contact Ron Guth at rguth@collectors.com.

Thanks,

David Hall

    David,

Sorry I can't help with the photo stuff but I'd be happy to work for you from Dallas on expanding the registry for you.

There are many new sets that are taking a VERY long time to get up & running - a 1950-Date Proof Roosevelt Dime w/Varieties set comes to mind as well as a Lincoln short set.

I'd also like to help you in re-weighting the existing registry sets where needed.

I'd also like to help updating the online price guide to draw more prices from averages of recent auction sources.

I'd also like to help you to add all the varieties to your pop report that ANACS & - at least - NGC reports the pops for.

Also, can you tell me why PCGS will not grade varieties not listed in the Cherrypickers guide (as ANACS & NGC & others do) - many of the Snow # flying eagles that aren't in the Cherrypickers come to mind as well as many of the doubled dies & RPM's listed by CONECA & Coppercoins on their website - yet PCGS WILL grade total mint errors not listed anywhere - clips, off center, etc...

I'm serious. You have BJ working from Austin. Heritage is in Dallas & I think you should have a presence here too. image

    PM me if you're interested.

Yeah, that does sound like a really cool opportunity. I know I wish I had been able to land something like that while I was younger. Maybe this is the kind of position that would be good to open up as an internship and rotate among some YNs in the area? It would be cheaper for PCGS, and would probably be something that YNs would be jazzed about.

Wait until you find out how much a house costs in Newport Beach before you think about moving. I wonder if the graders can even afford to live there.

PCGS should sell a DVD with the best coins photographed. I'd buy a copy

And the cost of living in Orange County is huge. It would take 2.5x the income I have here to live the same way there.

And.....that would be how much???? image

Actually, I was wondering cost of living as well....not sure who much it would cost down there...
15 minutes away from work, .87 acres yard (~37,000sqft), 3400 sqft house.....cul de sac and quiet and only 2 blocks from elementary school (great with a small child).

Probably A LOT more than I think it would cost........I don't think the photog would get paid as much as a grader.......

The Fringe benefit of being close to enough to surf and use the metal Detector on the beach would be good enough for me to go. But like I said , I'm not that great at pictures , so I'll have to hold onto my dreams for a little longer.

California cost of living... Two years ago, we moved from there to here (northern Vermont). We left a 2 br bungalow on .09 acre to a 5 br house on 10 acres -- and had half the proceeds from the sale of the Cali place left over.

The move in the other direction would not be for the feint of heart.
