What do you think of Frankie? 1963 PR69DCAM?

Ok sorry for posting this coin so much to those that have already seen it, but my last post became slightly off track, lol. For the final time (I swear) with pics that have the proper lighting, what do you think of my newest edition? There is speckled toning around rim of both sides, and no scratches on coin what so ever. Whatever scratches you think you see are on holder or reflections (still learning photography of coins). Input is greatly appreciated and again, thanks for putting up with my posts! : )

  • No offense intended, but it seems like you might be looking for confirmation of your purchase from some of the "experts" on here. If thats the case, you may be disappointed.

I learned very quickly that if you collect what you like, you'll be a lot more satisfied. Which for me, is Kennedys.

To me it is an attractive coin. In fact, I've been considering purchasing some Franklins.

I would need to see this one in person, based on the images, I am not a big fan of what I am seeing, and I do like toners, but this one seems like one of those coins that needs a bath prior to submission..

a killer coin with great eye appeal and i bet better looking in person extremely hard to capture deep cameo silver coins in photos

since i really like deeply mirrored heavy frosted cameoes myself

this coin has got me thinking i am going to get a proof heavy deep cameo franklin the most common date i can get proof 65 as a type coin
  • That is a MCCS slab. No way it is a 69DCAM coin.

but my last post became slightly off track, lol.

How did your last post get off track?? People provided a lot of opinions regarding your coin- and with the consensus being that yours is not a 69dcam and probably not worth what you paid.

    Wow LucyBop. Nice!

And Merch, no matter how nice your pics may end up getting the coin will not grade PR69 DCAM. Doesn't even look DCAM. It's still nice though. That damn price guide has screwed over so many people. But anyway enjoy. Collect for fun. If you're looking to turn a killer profit then you will first have to develop your skills. Marty and Russ can do it because they have experimented failed and learned from it. Of course even most pros can't make the obscene profits they make.

Don't get down. It happens to everyone when they just join the hobby. You still got an OK deal. Some people have been hit way worse.

Oh and as for posting potentials, be careful, you may alert the entire boards to your find.

Nice coin, probably a DCAM, but about 3-4 points high on the grade IMO.

It would all come down to what you paid for the coin. If you paid PR65 Money you did good, if you paid PR68 Money you did bad. So how much did you pay? The coin needs a bath, and you need to remove it from the holder and look for hairlines. After all that go out and buy a $4 lampshade at K-Mart and retake the pictures. But I have to agree, there is no way in hell it's a 69DCAM, but if you got the coin for $30 nice rip!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Really, Cameron, do you think this was necessary? Marty asked Merch how much he paid and you answered for the man. Do you need the post counts or what?image
  • I can answer it. He posted what he paid in another thread and Marty might not have seen it. Lighten up. I'm just answering Marty's question.

    Merch,

To put it bluntly, you got screwed. Or, in Marty lingo, big stick no grease. But, you know what? Welcome to the club! My first few purchases were ACG graded PR70's. image There isn't anybody here who hasn't paid in to the tuition kitty along the way.

Russ, you mean my MS65 1909VDB in an ACG holder isn't really 65? D'oh.
