When I would travel to Panama I would bring home a few rolls of 1/4 balboas (same as our quarter) and use them in the vending machines at work, drove them nuts!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

If memory serves me right, and that's taking a chance, The U.S. mint used to produce coins for Panama. Nice looking group of coin oh mad one

saw some nice old Balboas at a show today. But they were the earlier ones with lots of colorful toning.
