No collar Peace dollar error. Input needed.

Went to the Joliet IL show this morning and picked up a few VAM's. While going through a bag of Peace dollars I came across this coin. It weights correctly and hasn't been filed down. Curious of what something like this is worth as I haven't seen one in a few years.

The edge was probably tapped down with a spoon or some similar tool. Since no material was removed, that would explain the full weight.

Most probably. Just to be sure, compare the diameter to another Peace dollar. Coins struck out of collar have larger diameters.

Rims are too perfect to think that someone tapped a common date Peace $ down just for the fun of it.... (practicing?) The rim is much taller laying the coin flat compared to a normal reeded coin....

Guess I'll have to send it to ANACS....

With the rim being taller tells you it wasn't a no collar error,
a no collar dollar is bigger and rims are flat since no collar was
in place to bring them up. Don't waste your money on it.

Got a hold of some experts... and it's not an error... it basically shows signs of being in a bezel for a very long time... Not worried about cost...got it at melt.. educational to say the least.
