POLL: what if the perfect grading co. came along

the perfect coin grading company came along, they were 100% accurate 100% of the time and caught fakes 100% of the time and cost would be about the same as the other services, had a 100% guarantee and resale was competitive with current top-tier grading services. Would you crack out your PCGS/NGC/etc... and have your coins housed in the perfect grader slabs? (note: this is hyppothetical since grading is subjective)

why or why not?

edited to add: YES, they have a Registry, but onlu allow their slabs...

and your choice of color for slabs, black, clear, pink, whatever!
but they only fit in their own slab boxes...

I would do nothing with the coins I'm keeping, but any coins that I wanted to sell would go to the perfect grader. I suppose if I ended up with enough of the perfect slabs that I wanted to complete a registry set, then I might crack out some of my pcgs coins.

I voted No - primarily because it would cost me over $10,000 to make the switch. But that is because I have no intention of selling in the near future. If I were selling, I might make the switch if it was cost effective to do so.

But I would use the perfect service for all my future business.

  • I voted 'no' because there would be no value added to the coins that I cracked out.
I probably would send raw candidates and would trade with folks to obtain the gaurenteed as perfect graded coins.
A second reason for my 'no' vote is that I would need to assess the accuracy of the currently graded coins from the top tier grading companies. That is, would there be much difference in the grade? After all, I pick the coin and not the plastic, which means that my assessment overrides the graders anyway when I go to shell out the hard earned cash.

  • image The only way this could happen is if we went back to techinical grading, and if it was done by computer.
I think the results would be like eating a microwave cake, or a frozen pizza !!

Aint gonna happen any time soon so why even worry about it. A computer is only as good the data/info you put into it. Who is gonna decide what is a perfect ms66 Morgan so that the computer knows one if it sees it.
