PSA 10 Hockey complete Set on Ebay

Regardless of sport or whether it is vintage or modern, I always find it interesting and feel it is news when a complete PSA set is for sale. This set is complete and 3 cards shy of a perfect PSA 10 grade. The set has a starting bid at close to half of what commons usually sell for in PSA 10 grade. In my opinion this is hardly the best time to be selling off a complete modern hockey set given the current state of the league

For the record, this is not my set nor do I know the seller.

Good luck to the seller nonetheless.

Have a great day..Rob...90/91 OPC PREMIER

Is MOSH into Hockey? They'll usually buy these kind of sets.

I find the population report of this set odd:

PSA 10's of the following cards are:

    Jagr - 999 !!
    Fedorov - 467
    Modano - 433

    Even Owen Nolan has 237

but Gretzky only has 70 and M LeMieux only has 74.

Seems to me that there would be more submissions for Gretzky and LeMieux to yield more PSA 10's

......but that is just my opinion

In regards to the PoP report, modern hockey collectors seem consumed with the " ROOKIE CARD ". This set in particular yielded the largest and most talented crop of hockey rookies in recent memory.

Another note on the auction. You have to think about the number of grading submissions that would have to be made to yield 130 PSA 10 cards.

I don't have a current subsription to the POP report but I would be interested in the % of PSA 10's to the total # of submissions for this set.

    5249 PSA 10's from this set . Total submissions 19202 = 27 % 10's

cool set to own and look at. I don't think he's even going to break even on submission fees though.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

It's because those are the RC's (the best RC's of those great players from that year)

I myself have a PSA 10 Roenick and Jagr. Who cares about having a PSA 10 Gretzky or Lemieux from that year.. (besides a person making a PSA 10 set or PSA 10 Gretzky or Lemieux master set)

  • Cleary that seller is VERY burned out. What's the point of completing a set if when you are finished you can't stand to look at the cards anymore image

This auction is about four years too late. Still a nice-looking set, but its hobby stature has tumbled to somewhere just north of Pro Set Platinum.

  • Well Yawie I hope it has not gone that far south. I am only one card away from the complete set in PSA 10. I need the Keith Premeau Rookie and when they come up on Ebay they have sold for over $100.00 or close to it. I refuse to do it!!!! I basically bought a couple of wax boxes for this set when the first came out and did make some money on submitting the Star Rookies and selling the 10's. I really came out a head when the Jagr's were going for about $100 ea. This helped pay for much of my grading. Well maybe one day I will get that dang Premeau card after all.

    Cheers,
    Darren

Nah, Pro Set cards are pretty much the single-celled organisms of the hobby food chain, but when I see this auction, I can't help but remember the days when Jagr 10's used to routinely fetch $200+.

I picked up my Jagr a year ago for $10 from eBay image

  • The set still has the best rookie crop from the 90's, In time any set that has as many possible HOF's is a good set to have...

  • I remember when Jagr PSA 10's were going for close to $300 USD...now, they get barely $50 or so. I used to sell PSA 9's for that price about 5 years ago....nice set...too many obscure rookies and europeans to make it a must have in PSA 10 imho.

There is a Link Gaetz card though...
