Anyone interested in joining a forum(message board) on Civil War tokens?!?!?

I'm in the works of creating a Civil War token(cwt) forum, or message board. This smaller forum will deal with the dissucsion of cwts on all levels; types, die sinkers, grades, errors, rarities, values, attribution, advertising, historical info, comments, and the a like. I hope there are some interested in joining this forum. I would be nice if we could get fifty or so collectors to join. Even if you're not a cwt collector and would just be interested, please let me know. If you have any suggesions or ideas for the forum let me know, either by PM or replying to this thread. If you are interested in joining, do the same, so I can get a rough number of how many of you will be into this. Hopefully it will help aid in the enjoyment of this sub-genre of the coin collecting hobby. I will also have probably an area for non-cwt tokens too. Let me know what you think of my idea, even though i'm almost done with it.image BTW, this is the first time i'm telling anyone about it.

I've got a few to choose from. All i've got done is basically the material that will be in it, all the different parts, to post subjects on, rules, and all that good stuff. If you have a neat idea let me know. Any others?

  • There's gotta be some people interested in it. So far i've only got about 5 or 6 who would take part in it.

Fatman, I've heard that way of descibing the travesty so many times. I don't think the average Northerner even wanted to get involved but as most wars go, they get sold a bunch of crap from lying politicians and go off and die for something not even remotely associated with defending the Constitution ( although in this case it's pretty easy to see who was being Constitutional and who was not).

As such, when I heard it named "the second American revolution", the one that a centralized government won, I thought how accurate a name that is.

    My two cents sir.

P.S. Scott, I own several unrelated websites and was at one time contemplating adding a non yahoo type forum. It quickly became apparent to me that there was no way I could manage the thing alone, plus being the technological dummy that I am it also became clear that the maintenence and set up etc was beyond my scope, so after a lot of research, I dropped the idea. So, sorry I have no suggestion as to the format ( php, etc) but would like to be a member nonetheless. Howz about a combination Hard Times, Civil War, etc etc, or an all encompassing Token forum with different areas?
I for one have started collecting certain HT tokens and am actually buying a couple in particular in my quest to assemble rolls of em!
  • That's a good idea mrearlygold, we need a message board for tokens, I don't know of any out there. I could divide it into levels, Cwts, HT's, Condor tokens, medals, elongated pennys, tax tokens, transit tokens, ect. Darn good idea. There are a lot of token collectors, it would make the place even more open. If you'd like you could be one of my admins. Actually I could have the site up by tommorrow evening.

I collect a little bit of everything coinwise. I have a couple civil war tokens. One has a pretty cool story. The token was in a box of coins given to me by my father in law who was a grounds keeper for the daugher in law of civil war General Benjamin Frankin Butler. These coins were given to him as a give from Ms Butler. The civil war tolen says the union must and shall presevere on it. This is the same inscription that Gen Butler had carved into an Andrew Jackson Statue in New Orleans. No idea if Gen Butler ever had posession of the token but I guess there is the possibility.

Count me in on the new forum.

  • Thanks for the bump. It appears this message board is going to turn into a lot of tokens all together. Since there aren't any anywhere else. Could be the first "token" forums.image
