What could I buy with $108?

What gold coins could I buy with a $108? I'm getting my first ever paycheck on Tuesday from McDonalds (yay!) my first job. I want to know what type of gold coins -- from the USA or any other country.

Save it and combine it with your next check or two. You'll be glad you did later.

I have a VF 1901 British half-sovereign and a BU Isle of Man half-sovereign from the 1970's (1976, I think- in an AirTite holder). Both are about $55-65 coins, I think.

I have a platinum coin you could buy for $100 plus shipping. It is a 1988 Australian $15 tenth-ounce platinum piece with a koala on it.

Of course you could save your money as the others have advised, and I really shouldn't be spamming up this thread since it ain't on the BST Forum. But if you're eager for some cheap gold I can help.

Oh- I also have a VG-ish 1747 Spanish half-escudo that can probably be had for not a whole lot more than a hundred bucks.

You can get most any of the early 20th century European countries gold coins in the roughly 1/5th ounce denominations for just over 100$. You won't be able to get super high grade in TPG plastic but you could sure get a mid to low uncirculated grade. Look for French 20 Franc Roosters, Swiss 20 Franc Helveticas and the like. Good luck, gold is fun!

One of my very favorite designs, holdered by NGC and a nice starter coin. The BIN is well below your target. The downside is that there were tons of these coins stored in vaults and they are fairly common, but a mint state certified gold coin from the early 20th century for $90 ain't bad.

That Franc Rooster is a beauty. I like the shield one too. Nice, thank you.

Yeah Russ, I work at Mc.D's now. Thanks . They hired me on the spot. Like they do with everyone.

Are you looking mainly at BULLION or circulation coins? IMO, I'd save it with a few more checks and get a nice $20 St. Gaudens or $10 Indian.

Just like Kiefer did!!! He can't even remember the past 4 years at the party school!! Just that he bought too many bedroom sets!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!
