What happened to the 2 year PCGS Collectors Club membership?

Two years ago I joined the PCGS Collectors Club as a Platinum member. It is time to renew my membership, but I can't seem to locate an option for a 2 year membership. The Platinum membership is about the same price (i.e., twice as much as the Gold membership), but the duration is only 1 year. I also note the Gold membership no longer has the ability to submit Four free submissions. I find this to be very disturbing. I could not find any previous conversation on this topic in this forum. Anybody else find this to be disturbing?

Now it appears there is a Silver membership with NO free submissions for one year at $49.95; a Gold membership with NO free submissions for one year, but with a PCGS book at $99; and a Platinum membership with EIGHT free submissions for one year, but also with a book at $199.

I have not renewed as of yet. I looked at that as well and said, "Hey, wait a minute!" I liked the two year option as well. I'll probably renew for the 8 submissions, but then will have to do it every year.
That's obviously David's master plan.

LOL or Copper or Iridium?

<< <i>I don't think this was a good idea for PCGS. I don't need the book, so If I have to choose between Silver and Platinum, I will just renew at the Silver level >>
Ditto. The only real benefit for the extra $50 at Gold level is the grading book, which retails for less than that.

<< <i>I like getting the grading book every year for all the valuable updates. As frequently noted on the forum, the grading standards seem to change due to mysterious factors beyond my ken, and without the updated grading book how would I know why the au58 coin mentioned in yesterday's thread ($36,000 bump) is actually an ms62? Anyway, I'll re-up at platinum for the 8 submissions. >>
Pharmer, since when is PCGS upgrading the second edition every year? I have both the 1997 edition and the 2004 edition. Is there anything that would indicate that the book that PCGS is sending to renew is anything but the 2nd edition from 2004? Steve

isn't joining at the Silver level sort of like throwing away $50 since all it does is give you submission priviledges?? if you'll be submitting eight coins through the course of the year all PCGS is really doing is asking you to pay for those first eight in advance.

So, I may decide to select "nothing at all".
What a shame for PCGS to make such a change.
