Anyone here do business with Brian Greer?

Just wanted to see what type of feedback this dealer has who advertises in Numismatic News. I talked to him last night and he seems to be a pretty straight up guy but he doesn't have time to provide scans/pictures of any coins. I told him, I'm a picky buyer and said he was also.

Nothing but praise from me. Accurate grading and his descriptions can be believed.

Many of us really don't have time to do scans and emails. There's a whole new crop of "photo collectors" out there who waste a lot of timie asking for such things. So don't hold that against him as a lot of us just don't accomadate people with that.

I just started doing it fairly regularly ( putting current price list with photos online ) and a lot of the guys I know couldn't be bothered.

That said however, this "new way" of doing business has created a couple million bucks in business I probably wouldn't have seen if I didn't have the online stuff and so I'm becoming a believer in it. It hasn't caught up to everyone by a long shot though.

Brian is one of the good guys. Trust his descriptions on any bust or seated material.

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

I have known Brian Greer for about eight years. He is one of the very best with Seated and Bust material and is well known by many serious collectors of these two series. Brian is a gentleman whom I recommend highly.

Very good guy...low key and accurate on grading.

Knows seated and barber material better than just about anyone...

    Fine author in addition. This:

The Complete Guide to Liberty Seated Dimes by Brian Greer

    is an excellent book.

  • I agree with Jim. His grading is absolutely spot-on correct. He only chooses coins with good "eye appeal." He is definitely one of the good guys.

Brian is simply great. He really is one of the best dealers out there for nice, original, collector coins and his prices are realistic. He is a conservative grader and his descriptions, albeit brief, are accurate and without hype. His inventory turns over fairly fast and he has a strong and loyal customer base. Don't hold his lack of time for pictures against him . . . order once from him and you likely will be hooked.

He has a monthly mailing list and can be reached at via email at "bgreer5047@mchsi.com"

Good guy. One of the hardest working dealers out there. Great coins and very low overhead.

I've had great experiences as well. He has a no question return policy too which helps when you can't see images before hand if you're buying from his mailing list.

Brian is one of the really good guys. He is very conservative with his grading of seated material. Brian was the individual who introduced me to seated dime varieties in 1990. He was an excellent mentor during the early days of my seated dime collecting and research. You can read the Acknowledgement to Brian on this website.

Many of the dimes in my web-book are plate coins from Brian's Guide Book To Liberty Seated Dimes
