  • I have just opened 9 blaster boxes and have noticed something.....there hasn't been any checklists in them...anyone else

The first Blaster Box I opened up contained two checklists (both 2 of 2) but I have yet to see any light backs. I've bought many retail packs in addition to the Blaster box, but like I've said, no light backs. Maybe it's a regional thing.

I have bought 4 retail boxes and a 2x12 box from target (was brand new, saw them put it out).

No auto cards in the entire lot, and only 2 GU (one bat, one seat card) in the entire run. Not too many dupes on the inserts and SPs, but my base set is still incomplete even after this many packs is ridiculous. I don't mind about the autos so much as I do I would think that the base set should be completeable with 4+ boxes purchased.

Even worse, went into target tonight to see if they had any blaster boxes yet, and none. I did look through the two open boxes of packs, and each and every one of them had 2 pinholes on either side of the pack, and the packs were all wrinkled...obvious that pack searches had been through there in force. Quite sad, really.

I think I am done with purchasing packs for now. Going to work on completing my base set with SPs and /1956 chromes through ebay and trades. Flashbacks, NAPs, Then and Nows will be part of my initial set goals, as well as completing the white backs.

From there going to work on the relic cards and /556 chromes.

It's a fun set...I haven't opened packs in years, and this set has me wanting to open more and more packs!
  • I pulled 3 Checklists out of my first blaster box, in fact my Jim Brady red ink was in the same pack with a CL.

  • Just a note on light backs... I've only opened 20 retail packs so far and have 49 light backs out of 160 cards. No autos, no refractors and two chrome/1956 (Posada, Palmeiro), a few inserts and my only duplicate is a Bonds #61 light back. I will probably bust 10 more packs and call it quits for this year.

All but one of the Bonds are available. If anyone needs light backs or any others PM me a want list as I'm not going to put a set together this year.

I bought 1 pack At El WALMARTO and recieved a checklist. And it had what I believe what you guys reffer to light backs. No blaster boxes just one box of lose packs.

I don't think the pinholes mean anything, most of the time. I've seen fresh boxes with the tiny holes in the sides of the packs. They COULD be used by searchers, but noticing them doesn't, I think, mean the packs have been searched.

PM me a want list on your /556's. I've got a few (inc. bonds) that I'm never going to do anything with.

I THINK I can confirm that these pinholes are not a sign of searching, but rather a result of something in the manufacturing process. I bought an opened box of 24 at a Walmart, and I am pretty sure they were just opened and put out. I got the normal ratio of chromes, sp's, etc, a bat card (can't remember who), and two different auto cards. Next day, at a different Walmart in a different part of my state, I ran across 22 packs in an opened box that looked the same way. Got some nice pulls out of that one too.

If that's a sign of searching, then the searchers in my area aren't too savvy. image

The pinholes are there to let the air out. These packs are sealed air-tight, and wouldn't sit flat otherwise.

I should have figured the pinholes would be too small to see anything, but that, combined with the fact the packs were SUPER wrinkly made me think immediately they had been searched.

On a side note, I bought 3 blaster boxes today...netted a blue ink "Jake Martin", and several other SPs...funny my only ink has come from these small boxes.

I came across three fresh boxes today at target, needless to say I was thrilled..pulled about 8 out of each and kept track of what
I pulled. I went back a few times and managed to get another auto and a few seat cards and a good deal of light backs. I did notice
    a few thing:

The condition of the packs in a fresh box does look like it has been through a pack searchers grip. There are also holes that come
from the factory. It also appears that the wrappers are very loose this year, as in 2001 and 2002 there wasn't a lot of movement
in the packs...this may be good, this may be bad.

On a sad note, in pulling my two autographs in retail packs, I did notice that the autos ARE searchable. I hate to post how on here, but
I want everyone to know. If you aren't buying from a 24 count box, then the already impossible auto odds are really impossible!

Again like last year it appears like your best bet is to buy from 24 count 12X2 boxes that have just been opened. It really seems
like the auto/GU odds are a lot better....even better than hobby!
