I am very pleased to have recently successfully crossed the following eight (8) Morgan Dollars to PCGS. I just received them back yesterday after submitting them at the Economy Level Service Grading (Received by PCGS on Dec 21st).
This is the first group of Morgans which I have submitted to PCGS since their recent holder hologram change. Most were in PCI Green or Gold holders, with a couple of NTC's and an ANACS. Based on my results, I concur with others who have recently submitted coins that PCGS has significantly tightened up their Morgan Dollar grading standards...
However, overall I am pleased with the results since I did not receive any of them back in those awful bodybags.
1 1881-CC S$1 USA MS64 (Formerly PCI Green MS-64 PQ) -- Nice Cameo Morgan that is Semi-PL (See Photo Below) with MS-65 Eye Appeal
2 1882-CC S$1 USA MS63 (Formerly PCI Gold MS-63) -- No Question MS-64 by my grading standards (not much commercial impact)
3 1882-O S$1 USA MS63DM (Formerly NTC MS-64 DMPL) -- MS-64 DMPL in My Book -- (See Photo Below)
4 1884-S S$1 USA AU50 (Formerly NTC AU-55) -- Looks AU-55 to me (AU-53 on a bad day)
5 1885-CC S$1 USA MS62DM (Formerly PCI Green MS-62 DMPL) -- I agree with the grade, but thought that it might get 63 DMPL (See Photo Below)
6 1886-O S$1 USA AU58 (Formerly ANACS AU-58) -- Was hoping to get this "slider" into a Mint State 61 or 62 holder -- MS-63 Eye Appeal (See Photo Below)
7 1890-CC S$1 USA MS62 (Formerly PCI Green MS-62 PL) -- I feel that it's an MS-63 Semi-PL & was hoping for an MS-64 PL upside
8 1897-S S$1 USA MS63PL (Formerly PCI Gold MS63 PL) -- Fairly graded with mirrors very similar to the 1890-CC Above...
1881-CC PCGS MS-64
(Same 1881-CC as above Photographed under Different Lighting)
1882-O PCGS MS-63 DMPL
1885-CC PCGS MS-62 DMPL
1886-O PCGS AU-58

My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
You have a very good eye, when it comes to finding Morgans from those other TPG services.
I like them all, especially the toning on the 86 O.

hoping for at least one or two scores. I think based on your grades and the
coins I just received I will hold back a few lower end coins I was thinking of
submitting.
Thanks for posting and for the pictures to go with them!
BTW, I think you got robbed on the 1882-O. That's a 64 all the way.

My WLH Short Set Registry Collection
I don't generally worry too much about undergrades & overgrades because I keep the coins that I like and/or require for my Registry Set, and sell those that are duplicates if I can get the right price for them. I always list the coins for a price which I feel represents the true grade and eye appeal of the coin, in many cases splitting my asking price between the slabbed grade and next higher grade.
That's one of the advantages of being a collector -- I don't have to sell any of my coins... But most of the duplicates are for sale to the right person for the right price!!
Sometimes it pays to be patient.

As a rule I prefer to purchase coins in person, rather than sight unseen. The only exception that I make to that rule is to purchase PCGS Morgan Dollars via the internet, only if the seller provides a full satisfaction money-back guarantee through web purchases.
This purchasing discipline has served me well and has improved my success and satisfaction ratios!!

Some very nice coins. I like the 86 not so much for the grade but for the color.
