Hello everyone, my name is Ben and I am 15. I have been collecting coins (a little of everything but lately certified "modern crap" Hehe.) I have a lot of questions and have been reading and doing a bunch of research but still need some help. I want to try submitting coins to PCGS because I am very tired of paying high eBay prices and think it would be a much greater thrill to find the State Quarters for myself. I am so confused. Could you guys give me some pointers and help explain this to me? Also I would appreciate any other advice about collecting. I am pretty knew to coin collecting and do have a limited budget but I do have some money to spend from what I make on my parents eBay account. Thanks for any help.

and hope you get some good information on here
join the ngccoin.com boards too
as there are some great regular numismatists that go on the ngc boards and it is a little less rushed as it is more like a small town over there but with some advanced collectors willing to help with your questions

I'm a newbie and I'm confused, too, but I've gotten lots of good info here. To repeat a previous suggestion, the search feature is a prime resource here. Do a search on "dip" and you'll have days of reading to do!
And most of all - enjoy the hobby!

I buy certified modern stuff on eBay all the time for my 3 registry sets, (Eisenhower circulated, Kennedy proofs, Statehood quarters). Since I'm not trying for top grades I've found everything on eBay for well under what it would cost for me to make them. I buy MS64-MS66 quarters for about $5 and under, PR68DCAM-PR69DCAM Kennedys for $10-$15, and MS63-MS67 Eisenhowers for $15-$20.
