Here's a beautiful new Cameo 1880-S PCGS MS-65 PL Morgan Dollar that I recently purchased, which I received today.
The coin is very close to DMPL designation and is a beautiful deeply PL Cameo Morgan with almost no trace of die polish striations that are so common on early S-Mint PL Morgans.
What do you think of her??

I have compared this coin (newest PCGS holder with large hologram on reverse) directly with another 1880-S in PCGS MS-65 PL (OGH), and the fields of the other coin don't even come close to the mirror depth of this coin. Through experience, I have learned why the old Morgan Collecting Pros like Randy Campbell and Wayne Miller say that not all Prooflikes are equal...
My personal colelcting preference is to have true mirror surfaces on both sides of the coin, with at least moderate cameo contrast between frosty devices and mirrored fields.
I came to the conclusion a long time ago, that my personal preference is to collect coins that are high-end (or PQ) for their designated grade, with strong eye-appeal.
It's not the grade on the slab that catches a true collector's eye, but the beauty and resulting strong eye-appeal that get their (and my) attention!!
I have also ordered an 1880-S in PCGS MS-66 PL, which I have not yet received. It will very interesting to do a side-by-side comparison of these two coins, which I have images below for your reference and comment.

I look forward to seeing the two coins together after you have taken pictures of both of them.

Brian: Thanks for your post and positive feedback on the high eye-appeal of my new 1880-S PCGS MS-65 PL Morgan.
For me MS-65 PL is a high grade (but I do understand that you meant a higher grade such as MS-66 PL)
