Sacagawea Dollar Rolls - Yellow Rolls Or Not

Were all the Sacagawea $25.00 rolls in the YELLOW rolls? You see them in YELLOW rolls and then some in Boxes and even some in Plastic looking square holders stacked one on top of each other. Were they packed differently if you purchased a bag of 2000?

  • Thanks for the help. I wonder if there is more damage on the coins in the bags? Curious to know if a 2000 coin bag is just full of YELLOW rolls of coins or if they are just thrown in there?

  • The 2000 coin bags of Sacs are not rolled.

If you are looking for high grades buy the mint sets.
  • Thanks FatMan. Does that not get VERY expensive buying an entire set and then sending them into get graded? What about all the other coins that come with it. Grade them to or just wing it.

  • Rock,

I'm not a modern guy so you might get some better advice elsewhere. But with Sacs you are not talking about anything rare so the only chance at a score is with a condition rarity. I think a MS67 is a break even with the grading fee so it takes a MS68 to make a score. You won't find a 68 in a roll or a bag due to contact with others during packaging. Only hope in a mint set. And then it may take going through several to find one of that quality. It may be cheaper to buy them already made from a dealer or on eBay.

As far as the other coins in the mint sets, if they are high end grade them as well. Otherwise put them in your pocket and spend them.image

You might want to PM Madmarty or Russ and ask them. They are a couple of the pros around here on scoring with Moderns.
  • Thanks my friend.
