<< <i>Only impressive if you paid the "no rays" price
I just received back some dmpl Morgans from NGC that were misdated. >>
Yes, that would have been a score, but no I didn't. It's still a nice looking coin. Now I have to decide if I want to keep it as is or send it back to be corrected.

For me it would depend if I wanted it for my permanent collection, or if I was just buying to resell. If it was a keeper, I'd want it properly labeled (I presume PCGS fixes these for free). If I was going to sell it, it wouldn't matter so much to me what the holder said, I would be selling the coin. And besides, there are collectors of error slabs, and if you happen upon one of them, you might get a premium for the slab.
It's a keeper, which actually makes me less concerned with what the slab says. The only slight annoyance is that I put this in my type Registry set and I like to be able to see the populations from the summary page, which will be off for this coin. And then there's concern when I do pass this coin on to heirs, will they end up getting the right price for this coin or will they get taken by an unscrupulous buyer?
I think PCGS corrects these for free, but I'd have to pay the shipping costs. And like you said, it is kinda neat to have an error slab.
I have a coin at PCGS that has an error - they are fixing it free, paying shipping home and sending a free grading to cover my cost to ship to them. Nice coin!
Nice coin, yea I collect error slabs but I'm afraid that one may be out of my league.
The registry set issue is a problem with these errors. I just bought a 1882 Morgan, lable reads 1882 s. Picked it up at a coin show because of the error thing. When I get home I find out I need the 1882 for my registry set, plug in the coin number and it comes up 1882s.

Remember it's not how you pick your nose that matters, it's where you put the boogers.

I'd send it back to PCGS. If it was a cheapo coin, the novelty might be more interesting, but this is not a coin I would want mislabeled.
They'll do it for free, and I bet if you ask, before you send it to them, they'll compensate you for your shipping costs as well.
Looks to be a nice coin. Forgot to mention that earlier.
