Barry Bonds must have talked to me before going to the press conference.

The part I refer to in particular is when he stated that alcohol and tobacco are top killers, yet we legalize those products.
That a boy, Barry!! Tell them the truth. Those losers, just like joestalin, can't handle the truth.
When Barry is in his 80's and goes to visit the graves of the reporters who bashed him and died because they were fat smokers, he will finally have poetic justice.
And everyone on these boards knows that I was one of the first knowledgeable posters that stated and backed up with visual and scientific evidence that Barry used steroids and growth hormone. And to me it didn't matter. Steroids are here to stay, can improve your health if used properly, and make baseball more fun.
All of you old farts stuck in the past need to remember one thing: If guys like Ruth, Mantle, DiMaggio, Aaron, Mays, Maris, etc. would have known about the benefits that steroids provided to baseball, some surely would have taken them as well. Supporters of these players are just stuck in the past. There is a lot to fear about the future, but there is a lot to look forward to as well.

I really, really hope this comment was made in jest or sarcasm.
Steroids and growth hormones provide immediate benefit...but the long term health consquences are irrefutable. I think you only need to look at Lyle Alzado or any number of professional wrestlers to prove this.
Barry Bonds was trying to deflect the guilt (yes, he's GUILTY) of using steroids by bashing the media and bringing up 1000 other irrelevant points to avoid standing up and being a MAN and admitting he took them. Even in his testimony, he tried to say he didn't know what the trainer was giving.
Coward.
Barry will likely be dead in his 50s...a life cut short by juicing, all in the name of fame and millions.
And what did Barry say that was the truth? All I heard was a bunch of whining and complaining because people dare to question the 'great' bonds. HOW DARE THEY!

I guess ignorance truly is bliss. There are thousands of steroids on the market, some of which are strong and others of which are mild. Take something everyday that is meant for a horse and yes, it will kill you. Learn to stack properly and cycle on and off, and you will be just fine. As a matter of fact, it helps combat a naturally occurrence of decrease in testosterone.
Also, I want you to prove that Alzado and professional wrestlers have died from steroids. Alzado was an idiot who stated that he died from steroids, but it was brain cancer. The other day, I thought that my brakes on my car were giving me problems and I was convinced of it. Guess what? It turned out to be my front suspension. Sure, I'm sure the junk Alzado took didn't help, but last I checked he died from brain cancer.
As far as wrestlers, the ones off the top of my head:
British Bulldog: Cocaine overdose
Curt Hennig: Cocaine overdose
Brian Pillman: Pain killers
Rick Rude: Pain killers
Louie Spicolli: Pain Killers
They did use steroids (IMO), but that is not what caused their deaths.
Just open your eyes and don't be as naive to simple listen to what the press feeds you. Also, educate yourself before basing your comments on the opinions of others.

There's a reason possession of anabolic steroids are a felony. They are a significant health risk, and I'd suspect the doctors who got together to study the health risks determined they were such a danger that they needed to label them as such. In addition, I'd suspect that any one of these doctors is infinitely more qualified to make those statements than some deranged fan on some message board (if you think I am referring to you, you are right).
If it wasn't that big of a deal, Bonds would come out and say he did them. The fact he's been so evasive underscores the seriousness of his going outside the bounds of normal nutrition and working out.
But arguing these types of points with fanbois is pointless.

Here it is for idiots like you, complete with footnotes and all.
1. The reason Barry doesn't come out and say it directly is because of people like you who jump to conclusions without educating yourself.
2. The reason they are a felony is due to the money involved. The IOC had them banned. A direct quote from the article:
" Many witnesses who testified at the hearings, including medical professionals and representatives of regulatory agencies -- including the FDA, the DEA and the National Institute on Drug Abuse -- recommended against the proposed amendment to the law. Even the American Medical Association repeatedly and vehemently opposed it, maintaining that abuse of these hormones does not lead to the physical or psychological dependence required for scheduling under the Controlled Substances Act. However, the records from the hearings suggest that any "psychologically addictive" properties of steroids were secondary considerations to Congress. The majority of witnesses called to testify at the hearings were representatives from competitive athletics. Their testimony, and apparently Congress' main concern, focused on legislative action far less to protect the public than to solve an athletic "cheating" problem."
Don't believe the author or me, go to the footnote or read the congressional hearings and see for yourself.
Axtell, educate yourself!!
Once again, people like Barry likely have little to worry about as it relates to steroid health issues. The guys in my signature have a whole lot to worry about.

Of course they can. Many drugs have benefits and harms such as marijuana, pain killers, etc..
steriod benefits

Wow, name calling? I guess when you get called on baseless arguements, that's what you degenerate to?
Look, I don't care how much reading you do, how many studies you link, I will never be an expert on steroids.
Guess what? Neither will you!
For every link you show steroids have no health risks taken 'responsibily' (can you take steroids responsibly?), I can show you 10 that show the opposite.
If Bonds really felt he was taking them and there was no health risk, why won't he come out and say it? Why won't be a MAN and admit to doing it (and not this spineless-BS way of saying he took them without his knowledge)? What is he so afraid of?
Why don't you listen to the athletes who took them, who said that they couldn't get enough of the gym? That it got them addicted to working out, to getting bigger...that they'd wake up and their only thoughts would revolve around the gym? If steroids were such a great substance, they wouldn't lead to the detrimental health risks they do lead to.
Bob Hazelton would disagree with you!
I liked baseball before steroids (1994-95??) ... I am not really a fan anymore. To me, baseball is more about the news items (Bonds, Arod, Red Sox vs. Yankees, steroids, etc) than the actual game itself. That is not fun.
I am not an old fart, but I know that the stats of Ruth, Schmidt, Mantle, McCovey, Horner, Garvey, etc meant something to me - still do. When Aaron broke Ruth's mark, I was 8 years old. I remember hearing about it, and grew to "know" it. Bonds could have won 7 MVPs w/o steroids for all I know - he was that good - but the last 4 years have been a disgrace.

Those stats mean a lot to me, too. I can look back and look at how great those accomplishments were, but I have the ability to move on on focus on the future and know that the game is now different.
I understand, however, that I am in the extreme minority in my opinions.

Ichiro is the next coming of Boggs...all he does is get on base....doesn't hit for power (although he could...watching him in batting practice is like Boggs...could just crush the ball if he wanted to be a power hitter), but he knows his role.
I know I am in the minority, 'chicks dig the long ball'.

Yikes, for once we agree. I enjoy Ichiro. IMO, truly a five tool player.

When Big Mac hit #62 it was a letdown. Not only was it a line shot, but there were early rumblings about steroid use. Even then, people talked about how records will fall (and it did) and that baseball, mainly due to the strike, had changed.
I hope that the new steroids laws become a lot stricter. I would enjoy watching (and caring) about baseball again, especially with my new son. He is four months old, and I already show him the cards he will inherit! I know when I talk baseball to him, there will be a "steroid era" ... and hopefully that is over soon.
Aaron played a long time ago. Ruth even longer. I am sure there will be a player besides Bonds who challenges those records whose public perception is a good one. Griffey was that guy, could still be. Like many, I will not consider Bonds as the All time HR king.

Couldn't agree with you more. I will consider Aaron the true HR king, even if/when Bonds passes him.
I wish it had been Griffey...a guy untainted by steroid allegations, the sweetest swing in all of baseball...even when he left the M's I hoped he would excell. I really think he got a bad rap in Cincinnati.
Steroids played a role in the deaths of several pro wrestlers since 1997, according to medical examiners, family members and the wrestlers themselves, including:
• Curt Hennig, 44, died of acute cocaine intoxication in February 2003, medical records show. But his father said last year that a lethal combination of steroids and painkillers contributed to his death.
•"The British Bulldog," Davey Boy Smith, 39,died in 2002 in Canada of an enlarged heart with evidence of microscopic scar tissue, possibly from steroid abuse, a coroner said. "Davey paid the price with steroid coctails and human-growth hormones," says Bruce Hart, a veteran trainer who worked with Smith and was his brother-in-law.
•Louie "Spicolli" Mucciolo, 27, died from coronary disease in his San Pedro, Calif., home in 1998, according to his autopsy. Investigators found an empty vial of the male hormone testosterone, pain pills and an anxiety-reducing drug. The Los Angeles County coroner's office determined the drugs might have contributed to his heart condition.
•Richard "Ravishing Rick Rude" Rood, 40, died from an overdose of "mixed medications" in Alpharetta, Ga., in 1999, his autopsy shows. In 1994 he testified that he had used anabolic steroids to build muscle mass and relieve joint pain.
•"Flyin' "Brian Pillman, 35, was taking painkillers and human-growth hormones when he died from heart disease in 1997, his widow said several years ago. Investigators found empty bottles of painkillers near his body in a Minnesota hotel room.
March 18, 2004: Davey Boy Smith's autopsy results were made public by the coroner of British Columbia, Shawn Jestley..
~~~Investigation revealed, that in his profession, Mr. Smith had used anabolic steroids in the past..
~~~Injectable anabolic steroid and paraphernalia was seized by the coroner..
~~~Analysis of the anabolic steroid revealed trenbolone acetate..
~~~The above described changes in the fibrous connective tissues are consistent with previous anabolic steroid use
That statement stands out the most to me. There were steroids back in those days, but most were just being discovered and were very dangerous. Had they been as readily available as they are today I am sure many players then would have been using them. Now there are many prescribed drugs that are nothing more than steroids. Viagra is nothing more than one, many birth control pills are steroids. Almost any drug that supplements or enhances the hormones produced by your bodies are steroids.
