You know you're watching too much Coin Vault when....

You see one of their "specials" and say "Hmmm....that doesn't seem too badly priced!"

I found that on average they charge about 100% above full retail for most of their items.

That rule of thumb was no different for the 10 Silver Certificate $1 (1957) special for $100+S&H. I personally don't own any CU Silver Certificates but I can see where they might be attractive to some.

Their 20 silver dollars (1921 Morgans and 22-25 Peace dollars in AU-BU) actually didn't seemed priced that badly. No, I wouldn't buy them but at least they're not completely ripping off the public with that little special. Most of the coins they showed were BU, some beat up, some not-so-beat up. The price of $400+S&H is not much above retail IF most of the coins are actually BU. Of course, if you look at wholesale sheets (like I do) you can only wish that you can sell them for the same price that those morons are selling them for.

  • I watched a little last night for entertainment purposes and saw both the CU Silver Certs, which I have no interest in, but am willing to bet can be had for considerably less. The Morgans and Peace Dollars could probably be had for close to that price slabbed......The worst thing I saw was the 1950-1959 Proof Sets for $4,000....worst of all the 1950-1955 sets were "assembled" from other sets. The guy actually said "these haven't been cherrypicked"....Or how about 20 Raw ASE for $400.....I ordered 10.....

  • I think I saw the same deal on Peace and Morgan dollars. At one point, they showed a closeup of a few of the coins, and they looked
    (a) decidedly not BU, and (b) cleaned or altered -- just too even in whiteness.

Life got you down? Listen to John Coltrane.
  • They looked polished to me.....I like when they say "they look just as they did when they were struck.."
You have to admit, it's great entertainment.
  • "You know you're watching too much Coin Vault when...."

...you find that you like flipping a polished silver dollar over with your fingers...occasionally staring down at it as if mesmerized by the sparkle and sheer luster of the piece!
