1896 Morgan- dip and keep?

Bought this at a yardsale this weekend for less than melt value. Looks like some mild cleaning but plenty of luster and can't quite figure out what the raised portion is behind the head from k3 to k4. What's your opinion?

Doesn't look cleaned to me, but maybe you can see hairlines on it? I would not dip it. Looks MS-62 to 63. The raised metal is possibly a lamination error (does not add to value much if at all).
  • My buddy has a 1896o which he "cleanned"...his being fairly new to coin collecting...after I told him not to...
came back in a body bag, no grade for harsh cleanning

That coin absolutely looks cleaned. In fact that coin is a poster-child of what typical cleaned coins look like. There's dirt in all the protected areas and around the stars; the coin looks gray, not dirty and toned like it should after 115 years (it got the dirt from somewhere!).
