Like the 60 W photo a lot better. It's a Cohen1 (rarity 1), borderline EF40 sharpness. I actually don't think it looks cleaned, but there's some damage that I think would lead to a BB (dent at the rim and stars at about 11 o'clock).

  • Well it looks a lot better than what the sellers picture showed, but it is not worth sending in. Even sent economy the fees will be more than 50% of the value of the coin.

Nice coin. Some "plastic" won't tell you anything your nice pictures won't.

it's a teriffic example of the type

Two interesting facts about the 1826 C-1 half cent.

    - These coins are very sharply struck, and high grade ones show great detail. That reason this coin really grades as VF-25 EXCLUDING the rim damage at 11:00 o'clock.

    - The Cohen 1 has an interesting die blunder. If you look to the right of the date, you will see a group of file marks. It appears that the die sinker entered the "6" of the date there and then decided that it was too far to the right. He covered up his mistake and then added the four digits.

I like it a lot. Enjoy it!

Wow, seller's photo makes it look like there's a lot of surface damage.

The truest photo is probably the 60 Watt bulb. The sellers photo is the worst. It makes the coin look worse than it is, but it does hide the mark at 11:00. The Halogen is too red. The 60 W is the best, and that's the type light that I used for 35mm shots for a number of years.
