Well this is sorta on topic........with the abundance of vine riped tomato I have again made my gravy and will have it this evening with mafalda. i will be in Italy this time next week and will have a plate of ravioli in naples. From there i will go to salerno and be with relatives for a few days, then it is off on the fly to the adriatic side and the cities of art. Florence, Venice etc.
Steve Welcome back! Not to get to far OT, where did you go in Italy? I experienced the best and worst pizza ever in Italy - best in Florence, worst in Vatican City. The ravioli is stupendous. However, in Italy, they call it Rav-e-oli....

You are correct as the letter I sounds like the letter E and vice versa.
this was my 2n trip so this time we started in Rome and traveled to SSalerno and a few small towns around it, Then to Ogropoli which is on the other side of the Tyrrennin <sp> bay from salerno. Poistano is on the way there so we saw a lil of that too. From the 3 days spent in Salerno courtesy of my cousins there we treno'd to Chieti which is on the adriatic side just outside pescara. 3 more days there courtesy of some cousins and we then decided to try the auto boooooooos (pullman) worst descion of the trip. the bus is like a plane (no room) and at a stop the finanzia policia rousted us. After all the luggage in the compartment was sniffed by a german shepard and one rougue cops insistance that a bag be checked *even after the dog displayed no reaction) a poor kid going off to school was forced to open it, after nothing was found he returned red face to his seat. meanwhile all the carry on luggage was not checked. From Chieti we bussed to Assisi and stayed for 2 days in a hotel on the main drag with a balcony. The viacolos are 4 ft wide and either go up or down as Assisi is mostly terraced. We left 2 day before St francis's feast day so we were not overwhelmed with tourists each night. From Assisi we went to Sienna and stayed there for 2 days and 1 night. The main attraction there (besides it being the home of st catherine, and a fortress it has in the middle of it a circle called the compo. 2 times a year there the compo is filled with sand and it becomes a race track and an event called the palio is is celebrated. It is a horse race that they have been doing for 700 or so years. the night we left they had the award ceremony for the winner of august's race. Like you I marveled at the basillicas, fountains, statues and all that stuff. From there it was back to Rome for a day and night.
I by passed the Vatican this time as i had already been there 2 yrs ago and instead saw the collosium and anchient Rome again
In 2 years I will again try and see Florence, Venice and the other citie's of art.
I love the pizza there. The trip has become an every 2 year thing.
Dove il signore Marcovan è stato? Stasera mi sono dilettato su Penne Ziti con il pomodoro ed il sugo del basilico. Li invitare tipi a rispondere. Abbia Natale allegro e un nuovo anno felice.

It's meatball time when I get home.
Maybe, just maybe, a little canned ravioli. We'll see. I think the meatballs are callin' more loudly tonight.
(And they'll be talkin' back loudly in the middle of the night. Heh.)

And stuck at work.
In the Room Service office.
Where I have to smell all the food cooking in the kitchen nearby.
And I can't have any of it.
Welcome back!
