I figured all the other forums had some type of "OFFICIAL" sounding thread. I think maybe Lordwhatshisname may even chime in.

Mike we need a pic of a Ravioli. Can you oblige?

    Hey! All right!

Who'd have thunk ravioli would be such an enduring topic! I'm startin' to like this forum! image

I like meat ravioli in alfredo sauce with bacon bits.

Wish I had some to photograph (and eat).

Lordmarcovan is a good sport and "the man" on the metal collecting/detector forum. Go read some of his stuff. It's more interesting and articulate than most of the stuff I read on the sports/non sports forum. Not that I needed to back him up at all, but his stuff is very cool....ravioli or not. Regards.

Ate some ravioli in y'all's honor when I got home last night, in the wee hours. Brought it to bed and ate it there. My wife is a patient soul and didn't say a word. (Of course, the fact that she was snoring the roof off while I gorged myself might have something to do with her lack of protest, but I eat in bed all the time, even when she is conscious.)

I made sure to take a Nexium beforehand, too. Ravioli is one of the finer things in life, except when it talks back at four thirty in the morning.

Oh- and as to cheese- I put shredded mozzarella and bacon bits on top of the ravioli. (It was just cheap canned stuff, but doctored up it was pretty dang good).

As my wife says, the stinkier the better....mozarella doesn't get it for me; gotta be a hand grated dry cheese - the bacon bits are a nice touch, though.

    Cheese, yeah. Absolutely.

    Stinky cheese? Nuh-uh. Fuhgeddaboutit.

Smoked cheese is good. Here where I work they have Smoked Gouda. That rocks.

Lemme go out to the bulletin board and see what the selection on the cheese plates tonight is. (I work Room Service in a 5-star resort).

Probably gonna be some stuff I never heard of, some of it stinky.

Okay, here is tonight's cheese sampler from The Lodge At Sea Island Golf Club.

    1) Danish camembert
    2) Mozzarella
    3) Thomasville Tomme
    4) Robiola
    5) Gaperon
    6) Moule à la Louche
    7) Goat cheese with Sunflower Seeds

There you have it. Some I've not heard of. #7 sounds purty narsty. image

Might have to try some of 'em, if I'm feeling adventurous and the chef ain't lookin'. Heh.

Marcovanman - have you ever unearthed any sports/non sports coins or cards or memoribilia while on one of your digs? I gotta think you have come across something. Please share it if you have. Regards.

It's safe to say that purty much everything I've dug is NOT a sportscard.

I did dig a little keychain fob shaped like a football helmet not long ago- it's the kind that has a plastic insert showing the team logo, but the insert had fallen out.

Seriously, in terms of "memorabilia", I did once find a nice 1912 Woodrow Wilson campaign watch fob. It was brass and shaped like a little padlock. Said something like "Put a lock on the White House" / "1912", and then you swiveled the little keyhole guard away and it said "Wilson" underneath.

I later lost that when I moved. Never seen another like it since. image

It was a little bit like this Taft 1908 one, but instead of a keyhole there was this little swiveling disc.

    image

A buddy of mine dug a campaign button from one of the losers in the 1868 campaign- I forget the candidate, now. It was sort of like a medallion and there were little tiny tintype photos of the candidate and his running mate inserted into it. It was really cool. Would've been worth over a grand had it not been dug. As is, it still sold for 150 bucks. Amazing how those old tintype and daguerreotype photos survive in the ground.

excuse my ignorance.. what is a "fob"?
    ·p_A·
  • lordmarcovanlordmarcovan Posts: 43,897 ✭✭✭✭✭

<< <i>fob: 1. A small pocket at the front waistline of a man's trousers or in the front of a vest, used especially to hold a watch.
    2. A short chain or ribbon attached to a pocket watch and worn hanging in front of the vest or waist.
    3. An ornament or seal attached to such a chain or ribbon. >>

In this case, it is definition #3. A watch fob is an ornament that was attached to someone's watch chain (back in the pocket watch days).

    got us some cows out here in the inland empire;
every once in a while I get by there and it kind of smells like free sample day at the bean factory.

Them natchure smells don't get it here - give me the smell of fresh smog in the morning.

My wife spent a lot of her childhood on a farm in Canada. She's scared of cows; said they used to run at her.
    Cows run?
All I know about a cow is how it tastes with A-1 sauce - which brings us back to the topic: food.

I like steaks medium rare, pink inside, sizzled on the outside:
    #1 - Porterhouse
#2 - New York (smog free, plz)
    #3 - T-Bone (Costanza)

Baked potatoe on the side with sour cream, butter, chives, salt and pepper.

A big ol' chilled Tanqueray dry martini, straight up, no closer than a furlong to the nearest bottle of vermouth, olives on the side.
