...along with a couple of 1804 dollars.
Not a bad day.
I was in Colorado Springs and visited the ANA Money Museum. These coins were absent the last time I was there (last fall). But I guess they are back home from their busy travel schedule. I was also impressed with the new Colonial coin exhibit that runs through October called "Barter, Bits & Dollars". I've gained a new appreciation for early copper and silver. Although it was a little strange how they mixed a few commemorative coins into the exhibits - a Pilgrim, a Vermont, a Roanoke, a Long Island, a Connecticut, and the ever silly looking Rhode Island - along side Fugio cents, shillings, and Spanish reales. But I would certainly recommend the trip to the ANA if you are ever in the area.

They also have a display with an old cash register where you can see the tall stacks of each denomination of coins. Well, on the tops of the stacks you see old merc dimes and standing liberty quarters - but you can see the edges of copper clad coins down below! I mean, c'mon, if you've got MILLIONS of dollars worth of rare V nickels and silver dollars, perhaps you could shell out $10 bucks for some melt grade mercs and fill up that register so we can't tell that all you could find were Roosies to put under there!
