and with many price ranges collectors can get coins that are scarce and with much value and opportunity
Hopefully, the market doesn't heat up -- at least for a little while.

I realize these guys only have price moves based on supply and demand. It simply is mind-blowing to see such puny mintages along with relatively puny values. There is one thing that somewhat helps drive this situation and that is what appears to be lowball valuations in the CDN. For a couple of examples, look at Proof 64RB 2-cent pieces or Proof 64 half dimes. These prices have barely budged in years, yet it's been few and far between where I've seen (properly graded) examples of these go for anywhere near CDN bid. Proof Indian cents, 3CN, Shield nickels, Liberty nickels, etc. can many times be found selling in auction around Bid (and in some cases even less!).
<< <i>I read it and found it very imformative. Since I am changing directions with my collecting, early proofs is one direction I am going to start heading towards. While some might not consider these coins since they were made for collectors only, they are true collectibles. Many are reasonable priced vs. mintage and when you can assemble a matching set, it really is stunning to see.

Nice article.
I have been a fan of early proofs. I am not unhappy that I can buy coins with low mintages and special appearances for prices that I can sometimes manage. Someday, perhaps, they will have broader appeal.
At the bottom of the above thread, I note that there's an accidental omission from Part 2.
