Looks almost impossible to tell from a ground down Gallery Mint coin. However there is enough of the date left to make a position comparrison. The seller is one that knows about slabbing of coins as he is selling NTC and at least 1 NGC in his other auctions. In an ANACS or NCS holder I feel the coi would bring $5k just as a hole filler in this market minimum. But as it is i would have to say its a $2.50 chunk of silver as the wear patterns are non normal and has the appearance of being ground down. Wouldn't you expect that any one that sells coins to get a 3rd party opinion on the authenticity of an important numismatic item like this and the only reason not to have it is because of its non true nature.
Thanks guys for your observations and interesting comparison. My initial feeling was that it is a fake. I don't understand how anyone would want to plunk down $300.00 plus for something like this without proper certification.
