HELP! DMR-008, RPM-007B, MDS Buffalo Nickel

Any info you guys can provide would be a great help. I bought this coin on ebay...it was advertised as a 1935D FS # 5c - 018.5 -D/D/D/D RPM #2. I couldn't spot the 4 punches so I sent off to the pros. It came back graded VF-20 with a coneca designation of DMR-008, RPM-007B, MDS. I haven't been able to find much about its value or rarity.....any help would be appreciated.

The FS number you describe belongs to RPM#002, not RPM#007. You've been had by a lesser value coin. As to value, I can't help - I don't collect buffalo die varieties - but I can say that because PCGS rather recently started recognizing all the FS listed dies, anything listed in the Cherrypicker's Guide is far more valuable to the market than die varieties not listed in that reference, and yours isn't.

DMR is the Die Marriage Registry - doesn't mean much except this is the 8th die marriage reported for the year and mint.

MDS is the die state - in this case mid-die state. That refers to the age of the die when it hit the coin in question. Mid die state is roughly 5,000 coins into production.

Thanks for your help.....The seller is working hard to correct the mistake, he has a 100% positive approval rating and wants to keep it that way so it looks like all will work out well!
