I bought 4, one bulb blew on the initial install, took the pics with 3 bulbs.

Is this Sylvania's answer to GE Reveal? Similar spectrum?

No, they are far superior to Reveals. Reveals are nothing more than incandescent bulbs with a coating on the glass. These bulbs are halogen PARs with a color temperature of 3100° K.

Eric, will they work in a standard lamp meant for incandescent bulbs, or is a special fixture needed for the higher heat of halogen?

They use the standard household bulb sockets. One warning though, they do get hot after a while, so never leave them on unattended.

See what the socket is Rated as far as watts
Its the wires inside the back of the socket that will melt
Causing a short and or fire

Right on the rating of the socket, which in Herb's case is 75w per socket. But these lights also generate forward heat. I have six mounted on my copystand, the four that are closest to the baseboard cause the area of the baseboard they are focused on to get very warm after only a few minutes.

Thanks, it's the same copystand that Herb uses, though I have some extra addons.

Eric, is that TV hooked to the 8800 ?

I have a "video out" hole on the 4300 and I'd like to try the TV thingy.

Yes Herb, it is connected to the 8800. I couldn't recall if the 4300 had video out, but since it does, I would highly recommend using it.
