If this guy has those others in his case he knows exactly what yours is worth, or he is an idiot.
I love this place.... so judgemental on marginal information.
I specialize in seated dollars. I watch CC seated halves and quarters occasionally. I have absolutely no idea of the exact price of that coin without looking it up on the Heritage website ... does that make me an idiot? In fact, I can quote most seated dollar prices off the top of my head .... but I would have no idea how to price an ANACS AU net grade XF40 [corroded] 1873-CC seated dollar without doing a little research ... does that make me an idiot?

Well TDN, that would depend on how much you would offer ( kidding)
I bought an 1810 half eagle, small date, small 5, and in fact the one mentioned in breen and elsewhere ( with the initials in it which have been removed) and it's in an ANACS plastic. I can only tell you that I paid around 20G's for the coin ( within the last 10 months) and it's now happily living in a collectors cabinet in the NE. It's AU details, net XF, damaged. A rare coin. How do you figure the cost of this one?
I was really happy to have been the one to get first shot at this coin. Offer 35K now and maybe the customer would let me sell it. Too much? Find another one.
I've since edited my original post in reply to this one. I'm not convinced without seeing the coin in person, that anyone was trying to take advantage of Barry. These things could go either way, depending on how the coin is presented, to whom, from whom, etc etc.
Actually, I could hazard a guess on a net graded 73-CC seated dollar .... a guess, mind you:
PCGS AU50's sell for about $25k [so it's a very similar coin to the dime in question]. An XF is probabably a $10-15k coin depending on how nice it is. ANACS would automatically be at the low end of the range and the fact that it's in a net graded holder would knock off another $2500. So I'd be comfortable selling that coin in the $7,500 range and would want to pay no more than $5,000.
