I would pass on the coin and probably send a brief e-mail saying something to the effect of "You need customers more than I need you lousy coin...learn how to treat folks and you might be a little more successful"
<< <i>I told the PARTNER if he didnt like my offer then he should just say PASS instead of the typing me a lecture, then I told him to stick the coin up his butt. >>
The first part of what you said was instructive. But, the second part probably just cancelled out the good point you had just made. You stooped down to (way) below his level.
Delete his email and look for coins elsewhere. His email was a rejection of the request, meaning no transaction was going to take place. The lecture probably meant that no more business was going to take place. No further energy had to be spent on it.
I like the classic technique of "nibblin" for an extra $5. There always has to be another thing added to an offer. I prefer it simple, either pass or play to an offer. Keep the $5 out of it.

Especially on a 40 buck coin that I know for sure now was priced within reason. How do I know this. Just go check Larry's prices on these coins.
Geez.........
Oh Yea. Larry has only called me a Doofus a few times.....
I wonder if part of the problem was that you first made an offer, and then asked for a scan and other particulars.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
in all honesty, anyone with 2 brain cells could immediately figure out who you were talking about........so it would appear you worded your initial post purposely in that manner.
I'm pretty sure I've met Larry a few times and probably shouldn't have weighed in on this without knowing who it was.
I also weighed in,without knowing who it was,and dont think that's the whole story, and also dont believe he would treat someone in that manner, without good cause. Al
Hmmm, Cary seems to have edited all his posts.... Now the story really does look one sided. And I would say I've had good communications with both Larry and Steve... I guess I shouldn't post this reply as I would have no problems doing biz with Cary... Well I can alway edit it

<< <i>I said fine, what is your return priviledge, is it white, and can i have a scan. Is that unreasonable?!!!!! >>
It's not unreasonable if that's all you said.

Since I am the pissey dealer,I can respond by saying this is a private matter, and should not be posted here.
I don't want to post my thoughts about MR. Cary,as it is a private matter.
I bet Dr. Cary can't find one more person on these boards who I responded this way to..
Let's drop this and keep it private where it belongs..

Actually, you're the one who took it public.

There's nothing "technical" about it. BTW, I know the other half of the story that somehow didn't make it in to your public post.

My discussions and transactions with Larry and his partner Steve have been nothing other than pleasant ones.

Larry's a good guy to deal with. Period.
<< <i>Wow! I just checked over on the BST forum, I had no Idea you could buy a MS67 merc for 40 bucks---------BigE >>
Pretty impressive Huh ? You are right, in most cases you cannot. It just so happens not every dealer tries to make big bucks on coins.

Goose, I guess I must have only one (or even fewer) brain cells, as I didn't know who was being discussed
Does that make me a two brain cell wannabe?
