Who needs MS when you can get coins like this?!

Thanks to the folks at Rare Coins of New Hampshire and Jon, who keeps my want-list under his keen eye, I got this raw AU58 Stone Mountain. It's perfect for my Dansco! Sea green and light gold toning. Enjoy! This hobby is just fabulous sometimes!

Don't you love that eagle? I think it makes the coin. Borglum really knew what he was doing!

  • That is cool, I might have to get one for my type set! I visited Stone Mountain a few years ago, it was really neat.

    Ever see the actual monument?

I was disappointed. Looks ...dinky... on the BIG rock.

I like the coin better than its model.

    forgot. Link for PCGS board

  • I like the coin! I have had the great fortune to work with Jon at RCNH and have been very satisfied.

Thanks for the link. I really would love to see that monument. Now I will go into it with the thought that it is dinky on a large mountain. Sometimes if you expect little the reality turns out pretty big!

AU58 is the ultimate Dansco album grade. Nice! image

I've been to Stone Mountain Park a few times, as it's in my state (albeit on the opposite side). The first time I went there, it was a really foggy day, and you couldn't see the monument, but walking around on top of the rock was kinda neat. With the fog obscuring all but the rock, which has pockmarks and craters in it, it felt like I was walkin' on the moon.

Sweet coin. An excellent AU example of the commem for the southern soldiers of the "War of Northern Aggression".

I live in the shadow (well almost, about 8 miles away) of Stone Mountain. It is an interesting place and worth the visit if ever in the Atlanta area.

Nothing wrong with a coin that is PQ in AU.

You got a nice coin there.

Oh man, you shouldn't of posted that one. Trish just saw it, and is going to beat the piss out of Jon for not selling it to her:-)
She loves that one, and has been looking for a nice AU example for a while along with an Oregon Trail, and Texas Comm.

She has a gorgeous 1908 AU58 Quarter on the way from Jon as well, will post pics when it gets here in the next day or two.

As others have stated Jon and the guys over at RCNH are awsome guys to work with, and call friends. If you haven't worked with them before you are missing out. Just leave all of his 64RB IHC's cents alone, They are mine:-)
