Last week we were discussing PCGS cert #'s and their meanings.....

ms70ms70 Posts: 13,954 ✭✭✭✭✭

This was the crux of it:

0 - If 0 is the first of an eight digit number, the coin has been reholdered.

5 - If 5 is the first of an eight digit number, the coin was graded at a show.

7 - If 7 is the first of an eight digit number, the coin was part of a bulk order.

Now for the next question- What does it mean when "9" is the first of an eight digit number?

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Comments

  • The coin was graded in a telephone booth ! all public telephones have phone numbers starting with the number 9.

    - If 0 is the first of an eight digit number, the coin has been reholdered. I don't recall this on my reholdered coins. For early PCGS coins with 7 digits, they add a zero when reholdered(?)

5 - If 5 is the first of an eight digit number, the coin was graded at a show. As Jason said, those that begin with 500 or 501.

7 - If 7 is the first of an eight digit number, the coin was part of a bulk order. I've seen bulk orders thta begin with 7, but not sure if all that begin with 7 are bulk orders.u

There are also 8 digit submission numbers beginning with 3, 4, 6, and 9. I've gotten those in addition to 2's on my submissions.
