It was a small group, but these coins were sent to NGC for crossover (at any grade). I'm happy NGC was able to see past the label and at the coin.
Each crossed:
In my opinion though, the Morgan should have bumped a point:
It shouldn't matter the holder. If the coin is right, NGC will cross it.

The others were not my coins (local Dealer's). They crossed to, but they were PCGS coins so the results there are somewhat boring.
Eric, you're right. Obviously for each coin that crosses many, many others would not qualify.
The point of this Thread is, it's pleasant to know, that if the coin does meet the standards, NGC will overlook the insert and cross the coin.

There's a problem with this statement. You can NOT buy the coin and not the holder on eBay, where most gold label PCI coins are sold. And I'll tell you right now, if you buy ten of them on eBay chances are nine of them will not cross whether you submit them in the holder or break them out. And I speak from experience, I've cracked over 40 PCI coins, only three of them have crossed at the same or higher grade.

If you are cracking out the coins at random, your logic is sound. Randomly, three out of 40 PCI golds to cross makes sense.
If, on the other hand, you are selecting the coins YOU believe are worthy of the grade then your success rate should be closer to 100% (depending, of course, on your talents as a grader)!

The PCI coins I have submitted were done so to prove my point. I didn't crack and send in over 40 PCI coins hoping they would make the grade. I knew they wouldn't. This was done as an experiment to see how many would make the standards at PCGS and NGC.
If any of these lawsuits get past discovery, you will get the details.
I'm not speaking of selecting the coins off of eBay (although there is a process there that gives an edge), but the coins you select to cross over.
If you blindly send in 40 PCI gold label coins for crossover at PCGS then yes, you're probably going to average three that make it, plus or minus.
If you select out of hundreds of PCI coins 40 you believe will cross than your success rate should be closer to 100%. That, of course, is dependent on your talents and PCGS's.

In any event, I'm glad you have clarified this issue, since it wasn't in your original post.

<< <i> Personally, I don't purchase coins hoping to cross, upgrade, or whatever. I purchase cause I likes em! But, if that was my goal, I would inspect the coin immediately upon receipt, and return if I didn't deam it worthy of a cross, upgrade, or whatever. Why pay fee's unnecessarily? In hope of a "Score" I'm sure. Nothing wrong with that by the way. I hope for just one of those some day! Lee >>
Yes, except most who are pushing gold label PCI slabs on eBay have this return policy:
Return Policy Details: I'm sorry but I no longer issue refunds on 3rd party professionally graded coins unless I have made an error in my pictures or description

By the way, that Morgan is NT with a reverse rainbow crescent. The only question is whether it is truly a 65, the images aren't good enough to even come up with a WAG.
