Premier Silver Proof sets....thoughts?

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,377 ✭✭✭✭✭
When I started getting back into coins, I was buying proof sets....wanted at least 1 of each.
Bought some Prestige sets and a couple of the Premier Silver Proof Sets.

I have the '95 and '96.

Should i just sell them? Do people value them same/more than the same year's "normal" silver proof sets?
They make the collection seem weird (also, we don't have all the Silver proof sets so I am not sure if it is worth keeping these).

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Wow!
I should get an award for a post with no replies in almost a whole day!

I guess no one has thoughts about these sets?

  • I have a few premier sets that I'm going to hold onto for a while. They have potential over regular issue proof sets. I say keep 'em.image

    Well, if you insist.

I really like the packaging of the premier and the prestige sets. The prestige are the coolest packaging the mint has ever done. I wish the mint would upgrade its packaging to that level again. I have a few displayed on bookshelves throughout the house.
  • My wife wanted one of each. So we have a run of premier sets. Yes, the packaging is nicer. I would never crack coins out of those sets. However I, personally, wouldn't pay extra for the packaging though others (like my wife) would. Now those prestige sets have even nicer packaging as well as including proof commem coins in a new plastic holder along with the proof set. Those I like and think are special. Especially the lower mintage 1996 (55,000) and 1997 (80,000) sets in original packaging.
  • I'd hold on to the premier sets, and leave them intact. I bust up almost everything I get except for the premier sets and I set aside rolls from the Mint.
