Could I get some opinions on my stuff? (big pics)

Hey guys...I have a 2000 Lincoln that I got a few years ago (obviously) in a box of Cheerios. It sat in my kitchen junk drawer for a long time before I figured it should be somewhere better. Any thoughts on it? The Roosevelt is one that I got a couple of weeks ago. Any thoughts there too? Thanks!

I'll go out on a limb and say it's worth at least 11 cents image

The Cheerios cent is worth $1-$2

If you could get that "S" off the dime it would be worth a few hundred dollars image

Is the Roosie doubled on the mouth and jaw or is that an optical illusion?

  • To keep this thread on topic.....the coins are kinda sorta neat, I like em as a novelty.

Remember it's not how you pick your nose that matters, it's where you put the boogers.

  • It's basically an illusion. It's just because they're scans. I can't get the light right.

Your Cheerio cent could be worth more if its a type 2; if you want to risk ruining the novelty of the package. I've seen the Cheerio cents sell from $0.50 to a couple of bucks. The dime is in the same price range.

  • How would I tell it's a type 2?

  • Type 2 Lincoln Cents had what is referred to as the "Wide AM" reverse... grab a Lincoln from the 80s, and compare it to one from the late 90s. Compare the 'AM' of American on the reverse... I believe it was in 1994, that they switched to the Closed AM reverse on Lincoln Cents, but in 1998, 1999, and 2000, several formerly proof dies (Which still use the Wide AM reverse) were used to strike coins... in my checking change, I have yet to find a Type 2... if you break it out of the packaging, and it's a Type 1... it's worth 1 cent... if it's a Type 2, you probally got $100 or so... if you leave it as is, you've got a couple bucks image

Do you have any of the Cheerios left?

  • Although not valuable, I think the Cheerios cent is something neat to remember the millinium by.
