    hey Russ

what i find ridiculous is that either coin is in a 68 holder. the PCGS coin looks to be a 66 and NGC looks to be a 67. given that quick impression, the owner of the PCGS is in for a surprise.

  • In looking at price difference for '65 Nickels in 66CAM and 67CAM... 66CAM in either plastic is break-even, and about the same amount... a 67CAM at NGC, is worth about $75... a 67CAM at PCGS, is about $250... I know... not quite as rediculous as your numbers, but I met if we went to 68CAM, it'd probally be a similar jump...

The auctions were about a 1.5 years apart. Would the value have jumped that much due to time?

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

No. It has gone up on SMS coins in pop top over the past year or so, but more like 30% to 40%, not ten fold.

What's rediculous is the price of either one of them...IT'S A LOUSY JEFFERSON NICKLE!!!image
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

Wow. Sounds like $220 for the coin and $3,000 for a cup of Kool-Aid. image
  • It looks like the fields are not terribly mirror like on the NGC coin. I don't think it is 68 material. The PCGS coin looks to have great fields but the devices aren't as frosty as I'd like for that price image

I recently picked up a 1966 SMS Jeff in MS68 CAM in an NGC slab for $200. Very pretty and well preserved coin.

I also picked up a 1967 SMS Jeff in MS68 CAM CAM in an NGC slab for less than $200. Another great coin.

Both coins have very even cameo frost on the devices, but are definitely CAM and not DCAM.

I found the sale of the PCGS graded 1966 truly rediculous. My 1964 MS67 SMS Jeff isn't worth too much more than what was paid for that coin.

Must be the SuperSize cup, LOLOL. My sentiments exactly!

Assuming of course you think ANY 1966 Jefferson nickel is actually worth $220.00 image

New plastic and a year and a half. The time difference may have been very responsible for the difference.
