How often do you pare down your collection?

It seems that every couple of years I go back through my collection and cull out the coins that don't really fit my interests anymore. I was wondering how often anyone else goes through their holdings and re-evaluates. I guess the further I go down the road in collecting the more I end up wanting to follow the box of 20 approach.

First Place Winner of the 2005 Rampage design contest!
coins that dont interest me anymore and the lower grade coins. I do this to upgrade the collection
and to raise money for new purchases .

I sell the duplicates...
buy in bulk, keep what I want and sell the rest...
I slab nice coins from mint and proof sets and sell those...
and I build my primary registry set and when complete I sell that and move on to a new series.
My Auctions
I have just started selling lower level spares and coins outside the two series that I collect. I am better at buying than selling.
Added:
I also have sent a pant load of NGC proofs in for Presidential Review. If they cross they go into the collection. If not then going to Heritage or Boards. Quite a few top pop NGC coins in there.
I also emptied the closet of Morgans - all green holdered. Getting them together for sale, but waiting on VAMs in PCGS. A few are VAMS.
Selling my extra raw proofs to the local store at extra good prices to help keep the store lively.

Hey Bear - anytime you decide to throw a few of your gems away let me know - I'll send you some jelly donuts
Proof Modern Commems ($10/$5/$1/50c)
Proof Modern Eagles (Gold/Silver/Platinum)
Proof Post 1950 coins (but I kept the full set of Ikes!)
Raw coins including Whitman folders, bulk silver, wheat cents
Knowing I was moving and would be locking the collection away for years also impacted my decision.
