Herb, you have to remember to change the file name and remove the grade for guess-the-grade pictures!
  • I did not peek! After looking at the coin again and picturing it in person in my brain I couldn't see it any lower then MS-65.

Yes, but the problem, Mr. Kiefer, is that I am sure you WILL win the grading competition, and be getting the big bucks as a grader at PCGS, if you aren't already, haven't been here long enough to know. It was Russ that surmised that the graders spend six seconds on a coin, and this one would have come off of your desk at 64. And it probably would have been one of mine. And PCGS is too hard NOW. Oh, woe is us.

What's this? Cameron is going to participate in the grading contest? Hmmm... better give him another one to guess the grade on.

Uh oh Cameron, you're now oh-for-two. PCGS MS64, was in an old NGC MS64 holder.

Well, I thought it had a real shot at 5, but no dice.

By the way, didn't mean to hijack your thread Herb. We need to get together and figure out a time for what we talked about.

I know Cameron doesn't peek, just funnin the lad.

Eric, I thought about the filename thing, but guess the grade is a fun thing. If people wanna play peek at the grade, they can play it that wayimage

  • I think it's really quite nice for a 65. It wouldn't have surprised me if it were a 66 with such mark-free fields.

    Dan
  • They're harder on the 97S for marks than the 81CC, so I see the confusion. Also, the 81CC probably doesn't present with

the slight frost rub looking so pronounced in person-- and the 97S is high-end. I hope people get credit for grades that are

off by a point on these close ones.

  • Dan, the slight frost rub on the obv is hiding 2 to 3 small hits that don't show up well in the pic, yes the fields are fairly clean but with the hits I believe the grade to be accurate,

BTW, this is the first slabed coin I bought back in 2001 bought at an antique auction and it happens to be my most valuable coin, number 1 on the A list.

    Eric, pm send !!
