There's no doubting that. It clearly blow's away my 66BN. They got a really nice coin. But at that price, there must have been two bidders going for it where money is of little consequence to them.
I'll get a pic of my 09-VDB and post it... purely for comparison... not looking to build mine up to more than it is. The 65* is clearly a superior coin... with the color to drive it to it's realized price.
Wow. Having both consigned and bought copper through Heritage, I've adjusted their copper images in my mind's eye to what they really look like in person. So I'll go out on a limb and say that coin is sensational in person.
Magnificently toned silver has been bringing outragious prices at auction for a long time now. It's about time copper caught up.
A purple coin.....BLEEECH! Don't like it.....though the condition is nice.
I just don't understand paying so much extra for a color which potentially could change over time. At least the condition is protected by the slab. Will the same be true for the purple color?
I guess color is to some collectors like a good cheese or a fine wine is to a connoiseur. A lot of it looks the same, but seemingly relatively few collectors can identify/appreciate what is "natural" long-term color, and that which is a quick "coin doctor" imitation.

Do you you thik that someone didn't realize what they were buying and thoughs it was an 09s vdb? I know htat sounds crazy but stuff like that can happen...

I think some toning lovers must've battled it out.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Yah, but at about 100X market value for an average 65BN... Talk about moon money!

Edited to add the pic.
Auctions like that are what makes dealers scream, "THE MARKET IS WHITE HOT!"
