I didn't look at the coin in person, stopped at the end of the Proof Indians (should have flipped thru a few more coins). Anyway, here's Heritage's image - doesn't look BN to me!
Collecting eye-appealing Proof and MS Indian Head Cents, 1858 Flying Eagle and IHC patterns and beautiful toned coins.

Thanks Conder great stuff. I always like to learn from the masters. I note that the Rasmussen Collection had six 1793 liberty cap cents.
the hammer fell like this:
s-12 lot 3014 $9200.00 ngc 04 eac vg7 grade R6
s-13 lot 3015 $8050.00 eac good 6 grade R3
s-13 lot 3016 $23,000 ngc vf20 eac fine 15 grade R3
s-14 lot 3017 $18,400 ngc fine 12 eac fine 12 grade R5
s-15 lot 3018 $43,700 vg08 eac grade R7
s-16 lot 3019 $12,650. VG8 eac grade R6
OK throw away greysheet agreed, that kinda was my point albeit badly stated.
Copper Quotes By Robinson:
His prices in his latest price guide dated Feb of 2001 are less in some cases more than half. Even if you call the lot coins "Choice" they are under these prices quotes.
Coin Values:
Really meaningless a 1793 cap in good is in at $2500 VG $6000 and these just went up!
PCGS price guide:
1793 cap: $2450 in Good $8750 in Fine and these just went up!
Red Book 2005
1793 cap $3000. 00 in good $5000 in VG-8
I suspect that these coin come on the market so rarely they are hard to price. So how do you bid on such a coin?
What price guide are you using? Did the coin I mentioned really go for to cheap? How much should it have gone for?
The current price guide used by most EACers is Penny Prices by Bill Noyes and it is over a year old now. For comparison purposes
s-12 lot 3014 $9200.00 ngc 04 eac vg7 grade R6 PP $9,000 in VG-8
s-13 lot 3015 $8050.00 eac good 6 grade R3 PP $2,750 This one seems to have gone very high, Not sure why. PP doesn't reach that level until VG-10 Only thing I can think of is because S-13 is te most common of the caps and therefor had more people chasing them for an upgrade. Especially on the next one.
s-13 lot 3016 $23,000 ngc vf20 eac fine 15 grade R3 PP about $18,000. The owner of the most complete large cent set can definitely afford this level, and currently the coin in his set is only a 3 coin. I could easly see him going for a big upgrade. (I don't know if he was actually the buyer or not though.) Also, remember the guide is a year old.
s-14 lot 3017 $18,400 ngc fine 12 eac fine 12 grade R5 PP $15,000 not too far off
s-15 lot 3018 $43,700 vg08 eac grade R7 PP $30,000 but this is speclative. There are only eleven of these known and the only time they come on the market is when one of these complete or nearly complete sets is sold. I think this is the second or third appearance of one in the past ten years, and I think the sixth in the past twenty years.
s-16 lot 3019 $12,650. VG8 eac grade R6 PP $12,500
