The Kansas State Quarter and Low Life Slime Anti-Gun Governors!

Whattya think? I think I like it better than my previous favorite, the Connecticut one.

  • "Lacking"... My favorites for 2005 are Minnesota and West Virginia.

I hope the Arizona quarter has the Barringer Meteor Crater on it. That'd be neat.
  • CSW, I agree. The Kansas State Quarter is my favorite design so far.

Not my favorite, that would be between Delaware, New Jersey or Texas, but it does crack the top 5.

I am from Kansas so I am partial to it especially with a Buff on the back.
I have trying for years to get my dad to buy a few real buffalo to raise in addition to cattle but to no avail. Near where I grew up, Ted Turner is and has been buying up as much land as he can so that he can raise Buffalo. I understand that he is buying land in other places in the U.S. to do the same. He even has a chain of restaurants called Ted's Montana Grill.

  • The 2005 Quarters.
For the 2005 designs, I half-heartedly endorse California.

California: that bird is about to peck out Mr. Muir's eyes!
    image

    Kansas: a lovesick buffalo?
    image

West Virginia: a bridge so you can drive on by?
    image

Oregon: a big hole in the ground.
    image

Minnesota: the land of 10000 lakes looks like a big solid rock ready to drop in the lake.

Turner has a huge ranch where I live (in Montana) complete with Buffalo running all over plus is a large land owner in New Mexico (maybe the biggest). I would like to see him ran out of the state.

As for bison, we also have the natural kind running around. We should have been able to hunt them but the low life slime that was just elected govenor has killed the hunt.

Where do you live in Montana? I grew up (18 years) in Darby.

What!? You can no longer slaughter defenseless animals already once driven to the brink of annihilation for your own personal amusement? THAT'S AN OUTRAGE!!!

  • I'm reserving my vote until I see these first hand. The fancy pics from the mint are always nice image Let's see what it looks like in low relief and normal lighting. Having said that, I think the Buff design is pretty cool and I'm looking forward to seeing this one too.

I'd give you the world, just because...

Speak to me of loved ones, favorite places and things, loves lost and gained, tears shed for joy and sorrow, of when I see the sparkle in your eye ...
and the blackness when the dream dies, of lovers, fools, adventurers and kings while I sip my wine and contemplate the Chi.

Buffalo ribeye steak and Buffalo roast are good eatin' . Of course Buffalo Fries are good as well when breaded and deep fat fried. Similar to Calf Fries (aka Rocky Mountain Oysters) except Buffalo testicles instead. Once had a friend say something that I agree with: I didn't climb to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!

Have you ever been to Crater Lake National Park ? The Lake is a marvel to look at. The color just blows you away.

The surrounding area is some of the most awesome woodlands you could ever see.

Following my one and only visit to Crater Lake, I encountered a bobcat near the park entrance; only time I've ever seen one. I agree it's beautiful country. (I suspect the 'big whole in the ground' comment was kind of tongue in cheek.)

I'll have to get out more Crater Lake pictures. The quarter will never live up to the real thing.

  • Who's the Anti-Gun Governor? Kathleen Sebalius from Kansas, or Ah-Nold??
  • I love buffalo burgers...

I'm from the Rush Limbaugh school of conservation: If you love animals, eat them. When is the last time you saw a cow or a chicken on the endangered species list?

Buffalo is becoming a popular meat. That's good news for the species!

    Yum!

This is funny and stupid at the same time. The new govenor (who is not anti-gun) stopped the buffalo hunt (10 whole tags were being issued). He did not stop the shooting of buffalo. This will still be done by wardens as it has been every other year since our last hunt. It has nothing to do with slaughtering defenseless animals, but with preserving our states economic backbone.

  • School kids picked the buffalo quarter design for the governor. I like the big sunflower better, but...
I'm surprized it doesn't have an outline of the state with it. You know, Kansas, the rectangular state with one bite out of the corner.

Anybody got one in PCGS MS68 I'm looking. Was raised in Kansas and have family still back there. Will be looking forward to adding this one to my collection.

Anyway, the New River Gorge Bridge is beautiful; especially from Hawks Nest Lookout during the fall. The bridge is where they hold Bridge Day - the only Legal Base Jump! Check out Bridge Day

Unfortunatly, I knew a guy who commited suicide off of the bridge. That is a long 876 feet..
