Gold commemoratives. I see more of them in PR-70 than any other series.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Without even checking, I'm going to say Roosevelt Dimes.

The smaller the surface area of the coin - the less chance for problems to be found

    $5 gold modern gold commems.
  • I'd have to go with Roosie Dimes as well. Been having good luck with Sacagewa's though.

I would have to guess that there has been a lot more quarters and halves submitted for grading then dimes though. So if you were referring to making a 70 yourself, I would still have to agree with the others that said the Roosie. If buyingone already made, then well, you numbers speak for themself.

Out of curisity how many Ikes have slabbed 70? I haven't checked in quite some time since I quit collecting them.

Is there a relative measure? e.g.: 3,937 PR70 quarters out of 20,000k total proof quarters submitted

Do SAEs count for these purposes?

ChuckC...Good point, you have to factor in the total amount graded.
  • Depends on what grading service you are using. PCI seems to have a 20 to 1 as far as I can see for PR70 and MS70's
