Question about the Breen "monographs" on gold coins

LongacreLongacre Posts: 16,717 ✭✭✭
Does anyone know whether the following "monographs" (I hope I'm using the right word) by Walter Breen on gold coins contain the same information in his enclyopedia or different information:

1. Early United States Half Eagles 1795-1838
2. Major Varieties of US Gold Dollars
3. Major Varieties of the US Three Dollar Gold Pieces
4. New Varieties of $1, $2.50, and $5.00 US Gold
5. United States Eagles
6. Varieties of United Statate Half Eagles 1839-1929
7. Varieties of US Quarter Eagles

Thanks!

I own #1, #3, #5, and #6. They have additional information not in Breen's Encyclopedia. Is it important enough to have both? I doubt it.

I have them all, and they are well worth having if you don't have to pay a fortune for them. They are now dated because Breen wrote the monographs in the 1960s. Still they of interest to those of us who like gold.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
